Human Nature's out on video. I think it just got a limited release in the theatres. Like all Charlie Kaufman scripts it starts well and peters out. There's definitely some really amusing stuff in it but it doesn't really hold together.

Adaptation really fucked itself with that ending.

the ending of adaptation is like, the whole point!

Bad point.

don't you have to dismiss the whole film if you don't like the ending, in this case? i guess that's just repeating what zemko said. but he sells out, that's the joke, and it's not much of a joke unless you show it. the punchline is that you have to sit through it, i guess, and it works for me.

Nicholas Cage isn't in Jackass.

So, see Jackass.

Adaptation, never seen the point of jackass

Jackass, which has just become the best film ever. The penultimate stunt is the dumbest, most ridiculous, pointless thing ever, and, as such, abject fucking brilliance.

My main problem with Adaptation, which I think ruins the movie for me (although there's a lot there that I like) is that the movie ends with a great big gimmick, and not a particularly inspired or interesting one. It's not the first movie to do what it does (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here and talk around things), and for all it's cleverness, it's a cop-out, regardless of whether copping out is the point. Who cares if it's the point? It's still bad.

The sad part is I thought the ending was more fun than the rest of the movie, at least when it wasn't sappy.

well i went with Jackass in the end cos no-one else i was with wanted to see Adaptation - still i thought 'Jackass' was largely fantastic, the intro and outro sequences being particularly outstanding, had me in awe and scratching my head wondering how they did it, and also actually envying them even more for creating such memorable experiences for themselves unlike my predictable mundane unactive life at the mo - so it inspired me basically. the film itself did tail off a bit for me - but 'golfers horn', 'roller disco truck' and all the japan bits were the best, i was hoping the final round of stunts would be the funniest or most ostentatious but the randomness of it all works too i guess.
