We discusses shepherds pie last night and decided that
a) adding slices of banan to a Shep Pie would be lovely
b)Replacing Mashed Potato with Mashed Banana would be lovely.

It is probably impossible to imrpove Bob Geldof, but at least if you add a banana it would be Bob Geldof & A Banana.

Any non-edible thing can be improved by the addition of a banana by virtue of the fact it then becomes thing + thing to eat.

The addition of a banana to another banana might be overkill (I'm usually satisfied after one) unless you intend to eat the second one later.

Bananas Becoming Extinct

It is one of the world's favorite fruits, but the banana hasn't had sex in years and its days may be numbered.

Without scientific help the sterile, seedless fruit could disappear with 10 years, according to a Belgian plant pathologist.

Emile Frison, the head of the International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain in Monpellier, France, said the fruit lacks the genetic diversity to fight off diseases and pests that are plaguing banana plantations and only biotechnology and genetic manipulation may be able to save it.

"Frison sees it as the only hope for the banana," New Scientist said on Wednesday.

Without assistance banana production could drop and mark the beginning of the end of the fruit.

"We may even see the extinction of the banana as both a lifesaver for hungry and impoverished Africans and as the most popular product on the world's supermarket shelves," the magazine added.

Wiggy (Wiggy), Friday, 29 April 2005 21:47 (eighteen years ago) link

A banana probably couldn't improve a gigantic 30-inch burrito, but a banana being mistaken for a weapon would be just as amazing as a giant burrito being mistaken for a weapon.

Bananal sex, Nabisco? A curious mix of anal, banal and banana (though it's hard to see how those three things could ever all appear in the same sentence).

Some of the recent hits to the firm's business have come from a new EU banana import regime, an E coli contamination in the US, a terrorist funding scandal, and overall increased industry costs.

This thread's premise is true of cheese and maybe chocolate, but definitely not bananas

nabisco, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 22:35 (sixteen years ago) link

I know this because of collegiate experimentation with cheese to verify the hypothesis -- the worst combo idea we could come up with was dipping cheddar cheese in grape jelly, and that just kinda tasted like cheesecake. But then there was some disagreement about whether coffee counted, because coffee and cheese is a no-go

This thread's premise is true of cheese and maybe chocolate, but definitely not bananas

Some time ago I theorised that anything could be made better by adding one of chicken, chocolate or cheese to it. EVERYTHING, I was certain.

Then, a friend of mine stumped my theory: cornflakes.

My friend made me try this 'dessert' sushi that involved eel and banana. I can say with some authority now that sushi, nor eel, is not improved by the addition of a banana. Nor is banana improved by the addition of eel.

Let me be clear: Eel and banana cannot hang out together in my mouth, or anywhere near me, EVER again.

You guys, seriously...you have no idea how traumatic this experience was for my tastebuds. Why did I even put that in my mouth? Why why why?

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 6 January 2010 06:59 (fourteen years ago) link

i had some kind of banana sushi in peru but there was so much weird sauce on it it didn't make much difference.
