They asked that guy to videotape their wedding and he had a desperate crush and didn’t check it so he thought all the great moments were of her, and focused the camera accordingly. When he realized what he did he edited it out. Was there ever a suggestion he meant her harm?

Guy is a dumbass and his actions should have ruined his friendship with her and her husband, his best friend. He acted poorly because he put her in an uncomfortable position. But he is not a stalker.

I’m with T on the 4 weddings but too - tried to watch it last year and just couldn’t. That could be because Andie Mcdowall is just a terrible actress idk but I couldn’t get through it.

And yeah if he was angry or ranty about the love it would be one thing but he’s not. Also, he never intended for her to see the footage. I don’t think he would have said anything had she not seen the tape.

Oh and I always just wanted Laura Liney to leave the brother hanging for 5 mins and fuck Karl because my God that actor is gorgeous and I never really understood that unexplained storyline anyway.

(I haven’t seen this in years and don’t actually care about it at all but I never really understood why so many people got so riled up about a silly Christmas movie. Idk. Maybe if I watched it again now I’d feel differently.)

i dont think anybody has ever watched a richard curtis movie and thought I'll do that then

there isnt a single realistic character in a single realistic richard curtis movie the only mildly compelling thing on a meta basis from richard curtis movies is that his english characters are all american ideals of english and his american characters vice versa now this is a neat device but i think it unlikely to be deliberate

i enjoy richard curtis movies on a few levels, they are shiny and he coaxes huge amounts of charm out of his hugely charming casts but i just dont think you can hang the weight onto them that youre looking for here
