“High Horse” isn’t even the best song on that (somewhat overrated, in my esteemed and respected opinion) album... I heard it in the supermarket the other day, it fit right in.

(And I don’t usually do “overrated,” but we are literally talking about ratings/rankings here; so I’ll allow it)

Someone on Twitter pointed out how weird it is they seem to have completely ignored The Internet’s album on their albums list, like that’s tailor made for npr

High horse is awesome, not my personal fav on the album exactly but cmon

Npr list also had King’s dead... Troye Sivan .... phonte, Doja cat... there’s definitely some corny selections — it is NPR and it’s impossible to forgive that number one — but overall could be way worse

some good things in here imo...

i actually really liked the npr songs and albums lists this year, unexpected

i'm sure i'll be looking through that vinyl factory list, loving everything and not buying anything because $

would've preferred if lucy had been no. 1 on the songs list of course, i'm with everyone who thinks "this is america" is a video, not a song xp

Compared to last year's tail-end scramble, I did a better job of keeping up with new releases in 2018, but I still feel overwhelmed whenever I see a new list come out. FOMO's a bitch.

Did not expect to see 'Pat Earrings' (a line that will make zero sense to anyone outside the UK) on that FACT list.

Also, am I alone in thinking that the Tierra Whack album seems to be getting more shine than it deserves? Maybe I'll revisit it today but I didn't really like it much when I first listened.

I agree. As a calling-card EP it shows a lot of promise, but aoty is a big stretch

Glad to see the Yob record place so low on the Noisey list. Yob sucks, and I don't understand why so many critics worship them. Sure, the dude almost died and that's a good feature hook, but it doesn't make their music interesting.

and the idea that people only write about them because Mike almost died is borderline offensive. the band has existed for 20 years, has been touring the world for almost as long, and has been a favorite of critics for 10+

You know it was the first sentence of the press release, right? And I'm well aware of how long Yob have been around - the first record of theirs I heard was the aptly titled The Illusion of Motion. There's a fair amount of good doom out there, but Yob are boring and bad.

Literally every single one of their post-hiatus albums has been EOY list fodder.

There is nothing exceptional about the treatment this record's gotten AFAICT
