yeah there's loads on that noisey lower half that i could stand to check out

they also have roughly half of my top ten in their 100, which is an excellent ratio, well done noisey

imago, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:20 (five years ago) link

let's check out this is nigeria now

imago, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:21 (five years ago) link

kudos to first person to post spotify pl of the okayafrica list

single bed mentality (||||||||), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:21 (five years ago) link

haha that is well, well done

imago, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:25 (five years ago) link

The Noisey list is more interesting because it feels like it's been written by and for young people, a lot of these lists feel quite depressingly middle-aged, especially the ones dutifully plonking Thom Yorke in at #50.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:28 (five years ago) link

noisey wasted all the good records on the bottom 50 imo

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:29 (five years ago) link

also no mewithoutyou there either, wtf, they were like my only hope

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:29 (five years ago) link

They premiered the Tropical Fuck Storm album so I'm surprised to see them snub that too. sadness all around

resident hack (Simon H.), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:31 (five years ago) link

the nothing record they put at position 30-whatever actively sucks

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:32 (five years ago) link

There's gotta be like 500 unique albums spread across everything here. At this point, the Top 77 is the only list I feel like I can trust to direct me towards albums that have like, mostly good songs on them.

triggercut, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:38 (five years ago) link

I like that Nothing album :/

resident hack (Simon H.), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:41 (five years ago) link

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:54 (five years ago) link

Glad to see the Yob record place so low on the Noisey list. Yob sucks, and I don't understand why so many critics worship them. Sure, the dude almost died and that's a good feature hook, but it doesn't make their music interesting.

grawlix (unperson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 13:59 (five years ago) link

I... do think their fans worship them too?

seen them live twice, both kicked ass and at least to my ears they have kind of a unique style

niels, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 14:00 (five years ago) link

Completely forgot about that Iceage record. Is it as good as the previous one?

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 14:04 (five years ago) link

it was the best thing they've done so far imo but i've never been a huge fan

I haven't heard their previous albums but it struck me as pretty solid. I'm not much of a post-punk buff, though.

decent list

has boo’d up topped any tracks lists yet ? p undeniable

single bed mentality (||||||||), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 15:57 (five years ago) link

“High Horse” isn’t even the best song on that (somewhat overrated, in my esteemed and respected opinion) album... I heard it in the supermarket the other day, it fit right in.

underqualified backing vocalist (morrisp), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:10 (five years ago) link

(And I don’t usually do “overrated,” but we are literally talking about ratings/rankings here; so I’ll allow it)

underqualified backing vocalist (morrisp), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:12 (five years ago) link

Boo’d Up is probably hurt by the fact it came out in early 2017

I don’t actually think the NPR list is quite as boring as I expected tbh... aside from the awful number one it’s somehow the only list I’ve seen with “drip too hard” on it so far like what

Someone on Twitter pointed out how weird it is they seem to have completely ignored The Internet’s album on their albums list, like that’s tailor made for npr

ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:12 (five years ago) link

High horse is awesome, not my personal fav on the album exactly but cmon

ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:13 (five years ago) link

Npr list also had King’s dead... Troye Sivan .... phonte, Doja cat... there’s definitely some corny selections — it is NPR and it’s impossible to forgive that number one — but overall could be way worse
