This came on the radio and I don't mean to sound like a Youtube comment but it reminded me of a 90s one hit wonder but then somehow it's not annoying, I actually think it's great and was surprised it's not really a hit

RIYL: Alanis, Dandy Warhols, PJ Harvey, The Sounds, Swedish retro rock?

the equally wordy followup single "Love Has All Been Done Before" also v enjoyable

If I were 12 years old I'm confident I would really be rocking out to this

catchy stuff and I'm thinking maybe on her next album she can really assert herself (because surely this is the product of much label interference)

getting rootsy on "Furious"

oh and what do you know, here's a nice little Alanis cover, with correct pronunciation ("you" not "yaaaaayooow", more difficult to sing ime)

I'm just posting her youtube channel at this point but this Dua Lipa cover is also the kind of thing I would usually recoil at but for some reason I dig this:

there's a '90s tinge to her work but she also exists kind of in a space between fearless-era t swift and phoebe bridgers for me. very cool record, great songwriter

for such a "classicist" songwriter her lyrics are frequently hilarious

Like, I love these opening lines:

How do we have to do this again?
I'll tell you how I'm feelin'
And you're like a cryptomaniac
We try and connect the dots and the facts

one year passes...

Brad have you heard the new one yet? 3/4s through my first spin and I like it quite a bit. A few songs really play up that '90s tinge.
