Still a price jump though, huh. God stop talking about fucking Apple Stores I have meetings to get to

It's a jump but the rumors were indicating some crazy massive jump that was having me rethink a bit. But this is fine from where I sit, at least.

Can the new MacBook Air run a big 4K monitor in clamshell mode?
― droit au butt (Euler), Wednesday, 31 October 2018 10:59 (five years ago) link
june 2017 ipad pro would almost be tempting if they'd bumped the price down. new ipad pro is 760 funbucks and the cheapest apple cover is 85 and that's only for the 8GB model
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 31 October 2018 21:30 (five years ago) link
new air is 20% too expensive
too diffuse a range of products makes it too frustrating to min-max plus post-brexit weakness of the pound has pushed prices uncomfortably high. there's just no sweet spot, as far as I can see in the range
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 31 October 2018 21:31 (five years ago) link
if the new pro started at 128GB for the 760ยฃ model and the smart cover 45/55ยฃ worked then it might have been the_one

Sell hardware at higher profit margins
― DJI, Friday, 2 November 2018 16:03 (five years ago) link
I'm kind of surprised there isn't, like, an SEC or GAAP requirement for a business that sells a consumer product to state how many units of that product it sells.
― Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Friday, 2 November 2018 16:22 (five years ago) link
is there any evidence that apple are selling products at higher profit margins?

FWIW, my main book and comic reader is a iPad Mini 3. If I had to get something now, I'd probably get that $329 9" iPad. You don't have to spend iPad Pro money on it.
Physical media won't let me back it up in multiple locations and will be a big problem when climate-change enhanced fires burn all of California down. Portability and redundancy forever!

It's the backing-up-in-multiple-locations thing that's causing climate-change enhanced fires tho.

My 10โ Pro is rapidly becoming my main computer. Did all the work on the site from it this morning. I think Iโve used my work Mac for about 20 minutes this week, and that was to pull together a presentation from three other decks. (iOS still sucks horrifically at multiple docs in the same app)

For a company that prides itself on design, I actually don't find them comfortable to use at all. Any intensive tasks are much more comfortable to do on a laptop, and anything less intensive I'd rather just do on my phone.
FWIW, I'm not using the cloud. Follow-ups to Maintaining a Digital Music Collection

I prefer reading comics on my iPad mini 3 to my iPad Pro 10.5โ. On the pro, the scans get big enough that they suffer if they arenโt super hi resAny iPad with a retina screen and 128gb or more of storage will serve u well as a comics reader imo
