Yeah we won’t know what the early vote numbers mean until Election Day, but anecdotally they’re running super high here in East Tennessee. In the 2014 midterms there were about 54.000 total early voters in my county. As of yesterday, through five days of early voting with nine more to go, there were already 45,000.

Old school cabins up north are very very few and far between anymore, they've been sold and torn down esp in the last 15 years

they are a dying breed of cabin though, real estate prices have been so high, my father in law sold his for a tear down, it's too much money to turn down

My friend also mentioned some ridiculous rich televangelist had his lake place next to their family compound and it is a point of honour for her (and her siblings, all of whom have 4-6 kids) to basically be the Clampetts whenever Reverend Idiot is in residence.

Nothing brings these people to the poles more than unfounded fears of brown people invading thier houses. This is bad for the midterms

I really hope people are holding their family, friends, people they want to hold hands with or fuck accountable during these elections.

i tried but the people who brought me into this world are self-professed one-issue voters (abortion). they literally don't care about anything else republicans or trump do, as long as they are anti-choice. i did notice a democrat in their area running with a bold blue dog / anti-choice agenda, but we've had some family tragedies recently and it just hasn't felt like the right time to call out of the blue and say "hey mom i know you reflexively vote republican because of abortion but i wanted to let you know that there's a Democrat that is ALSO against abortion and i'd like you to vote for him because at least he gets some of the other issues right!"

“Holding people accountable” assumes we have authority over our loved ones. We don’t. We can try to influence them but scolding doesn’t work when dealing with adults.

I only know people who vote Democrat; I am sure there are Republicans in my extended family on my mom's side but the odds are good I will never see or speak to them again anyway. Most of my friends are probably further left than I am. I still don't know how people could wind up having friends they disagree with on, like, whether trans people exist.
