New Domenique Dumont is very good, a little more guitar jammy than the first one. Still fairly brief and beautiful.
I agree!

I've been listening to it quite a lot, in fact

Pretty sure his Secret Circuit stuff is discussed upthread somewhere. so yes.
Recently been enjoying the Antoine Kogut mini album that taps into the sort of sleazy, Gallic pop that Air, Gainsbourg and Tellier often produce

This one's from a compilation of Rex Ilusivii's tracks on Versatile from earlier this year. He's also had releases on Vladimir Ivkovic's excellent Offen label

Been working my way through Picadilly Records' Compilations of the Year. Lots of good stuff as usual but the Club Meduse one is fantastic - comes across as a slightly more chilled version of those Psychemagik Magik Cyrkle/Sunrise etc comps (which is no surprise as it's on Danny's Spacetalk label).

Some chilled out vibes from the Scottish Highlands inspired by Celtic mythology. This album was made with the assistance of Forestry Commission Scotland, which is something that I don't think that you can say that about most of the other music in this thread

Finally got around to listening to this and I think I've finally resigned myself to something I have suspected for some time: the two volumes of Sketches From An Island--which I've listened to more times than I could possibly count--were a fluke. Like everything else I've checked out by MB, this recent album does nothing for me whatsoever. I'll try again, because in theory I'm a big MB fan (well, based on those two albums, anyway), but probably won't be buying this one.

This one is very different, but has its own charms
― Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Sunday, 17 February 2019 15:09 (five years ago) link
I think its worth noting that he admitted he wasn't trying to do Sketches 3 or a similar approach, and it was released on Running Back which these days is known more for bigroom house than anything, rather than his own label
― boxedjoy, Sunday, 17 February 2019 18:54 (five years ago) link
He has a bunch of really good singles and eps that are worth checking out for more of that sketches vibe.
― Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Sunday, 17 February 2019 18:58 (five years ago) link
He's an old head... he put out a lot of stuff in the 90s too (future loop foundation etc)
― brimstead, Sunday, 17 February 2019 20:13 (five years ago) link
I really love Nature Sounds of the Balearics. To me he’s just as good at the techno/house side as his sketches from an island vibe

this was originally a remix of lil pump "gucci gang" by a producer named omniboi... the remix is cute but the instrumental is a slice of balearic heaven imo
the video of him playing the remix live in his bedroom is dope tho

This is lovely except for one of the tracks near the end which has a really high pitched tone all the way through and is pretty much unlistenable

yessir and difficult to find except on those absurdly overpriced (and overrated imo) claremont originals comps
i hate on that label but i have to admit each of those comps has turned me on to at least one all time bomb ... though imo at least 75% of the obscurities on those comps should have stayed obscure
― the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:16 (four years ago) link
well difficult to find on 12" anyway
― the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:20 (four years ago) link

75% is a little harsh

wow dude those are worth a lot of money! my favorite, the sean p one, is going for like $80 on discogs.
i think some of them are better than others. i like the ones by sean p, lexx, burgess & green, and rong music a lot more than the rest. but i'm not really hardcore balearic so there you go
― the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:38 (four years ago) link
the moonboots one is about half bangers i think (sth national, esposito, band aid, radio band, flayer), but kind of agree about the rest
xp

honestly will forever be in debt to the series for introducing me to flayer, escape from NY's "fire in my heart" and letta's "nomalizo"
we got fire in my heart and flayer represses, now we need nomalizo on 12"
