anytime you play the insult game w/Trump you're going to lose

Don't tell Stormy that, at least not yet.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present your president. In addition to his...umm...shortcomings, he has demonstrated his incompetence, hatred of women and lack of self control on Twitter AGAIN! And perhaps a penchant for bestiality. Game on, Tiny. https://t.co/6DpDD5ELtj

Stormy should continue to go HAM on him, i just think anyone running against him directly should go the route of putting out their own message. everyone knows what Trump is, opposition candidates don't need to take him on personally.

omar little, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 15:56 (five years ago) link

yea agreed

I like having Avenatti around but I really don't need him to get involved with the Democrats in any official capacity

frogbs, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:06 (five years ago) link

Graham also used the interview to make multiple dubious claims about what “this election” is really about, namely:

This election now is down to simple things: Are you for what they did to Kavanaugh? Are you for having your government run by a mob or are you for the rule of law?
>

Ha ha.

& they see themselves as pro Rule of Law & anti-mob?

Stevolende, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:17 (five years ago) link

Unreal that he called a woman “horseface” and it’s just another day

Trϵϵship, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:17 (five years ago) link

It's unrealistic to hope that all of these fuckers get the justice they deserve, but please allow at least a handful of them to become penniless pariahs scrounging in the gutter for a scrap of food while dodging the sputum of their former constituents, please.

Extra Shprankles (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:19 (five years ago) link

am I missing something or did Trump just sorta admit he paid $130000 to fuck a horse-faced girl because she reminded him of his daughter

frogbs, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:22 (five years ago) link

He didn’t admit the last part

Trϵϵship, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:26 (five years ago) link

Mitch McConnell pretty much flat-out threatening to fuck with Medicare in order to make up for deficits caused by the last tax bill SEEMS like an incredibly idiotic thing to do three weeks before midterms, but what the fuck makes sense anymore? It certainly wouldn't be the most shocking thing ever for old people to re-up on a bunch of legislators who are desperate to cut their benefits. I guess nobody thinks it's gonna affect them personally until the moment it does.

evol j, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:33 (five years ago) link

I saw that McConnell move come in 2017 because that's what GOP leaders always do since Reagan: expect social service cuts to pay for their crap-ass tax cuts.

You like queer? I like queer. Still like queer. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:39 (five years ago) link

They can just tell the olds that Obama made 'em do it and everything will be cool. It's a cinch when your constituency has the reasoning ability of a gnat.

Extra Shprankles (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:41 (five years ago) link

oh yeah, i think a lot of us did. I just don't understand running yer yap about it right before an election. then again, half of the GOP is out here acting like THEY'RE the ones committed to protecting pre-existing conditions in defiance of all known reality.

Democrats have raised almost 2/3 of the total money for the House (not counting candidates who lost in primaries). Despite the fact that the GOP holds the incumbency advantage. Never been anything like that before in our House fundraising data, which goes back to 1998. pic.twitter.com/18iRaPGQxJ

Until progressives have a 24 hour a day, free propaganda machine as effective as FOX News, they will start out at a disadvantage in messaging, even with all that fundraising.

Karl every time you post, in my mind I hear someone saying "you're not dealing with AT&T"

Scam jam, thank you ma’am (Sparkle Motion), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 17:54 (five years ago) link

i watched a long 'hello nasty' era MTV2 feature on the beastie boys the other day, including all of the commercials, and for some reason the AT&T ads in particular really snapped me back to that time

1-800-CALL-ATT (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:01 (five years ago) link

but all of you should seriously use AT&T. AT&T - more for your thing, that's our thing. i mean their thing. no, our thing.

1-800-CALL-ATT (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:02 (five years ago) link

I've been watching a few old frontlines over the last week. One of which was the American porn one which was withdrawn after one of the porn firms they were depicting turned out to be doing graphically violent stuff.
But one of the firms featured to some degree was AT & T who were running a porn channel for a while as were GM.
programme was made in 2002 and reedited in 2004

Stevolende, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:07 (five years ago) link

"Game on, Tiny" would be a good November thread title.

In other news, final Beto-Cruz debate tonight.

XP That Frontline was good (saw it when it was new). Iirc, GM had that porn channel through Direct TV, which they owned at the time.

a 24 hour a day, free propaganda machine as effective as FOX News,

How many viewers does FN have? Isn't it around a million? Two? I think its all-consuming powerhouse rep is a delusion.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:16 (five years ago) link

That's ignoring the fact they're in the top three publishers on fb. It's the clips, the soundbites getting pumped around on social media doing the real damage imo. And the audience is a hell of a lot bigger than a million or two there.

Morbs, have you been to a business establishment in flyover country which had a tv in the lobby, y/n

Extra Shprankles (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:19 (five years ago) link

It's a mistake to conflate the audience numbers for any one time slot with the collective audience over a day's or a week's time.

A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:20 (five years ago) link

yeah, i am aware of those factors. i still think our powers are useful against them.

OL, that's p much the only places i see that shit.

also, anything covered by fox news is then accepted wholesale and repeated in a ton of slightly different stories across the conservative media spectrum, until it finally is referenced in the reader letters section of readers digest, several years later

Is it a uniquely american thing that people have the 24 news on their tv all the time?

Yerac, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:31 (five years ago) link

simpler messages are easy to disseminate, and reality is almost always complicated. that doesn't mean that there aren't ways to effectively communicate left-leaning ideas that are grounded in truth and reality, but it does provide a significant messaging advantage to those who are ok with just making up shit

TV news of any stripe is one of the least tolerable things I can imagine having on the TV for any length of time whatsoever. Even like MSNBC in small doses makes my blood pressure spike.

not for simple-minded people. for them reality is simple, confusing and frustrating, all at once.

A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:39 (five years ago) link

I read the news but I don't have cable so thus can't watch 24 hours news. I catch it on at places and can't even imagine why people would just leave it on in their home.

Yerac, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:39 (five years ago) link

Aimless, your correction to my statement makes it better. Thanks!

brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 18:39 (five years ago) link

Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine a worse way to deliver/receive news than 'LOUD GARISH & FAST'. I've been long advocating that all TV news should have a tone more like CSPAN.
