Verlander and Maldonado are just not working well together.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 14 October 2018 02:08 (five years ago) link

pitch framing much more valued than blocking pitches these days, it seems

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 14 October 2018 02:09 (five years ago) link

Thought Verlander caught a break on those last two strikes to Benintendi.

clemenza, Sunday, 14 October 2018 02:10 (five years ago) link

that was ball four to benintendi

mookieproof, Sunday, 14 October 2018 02:11 (five years ago) link

You're all outta here.

Andy K, Sunday, 14 October 2018 02:14 (five years ago) link

yeah, dumbfuck Bregman, they wanted you to hit you leading off

go Sox

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 14 October 2018 02:16 (five years ago) link

Bregman the new Pedroia

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 14 October 2018 02:19 (five years ago) link

is Angel Hernandez behind the plate?

Joe Kelly seems like someone who would punch a loaf of bread for not being fluffy enough

Astros looking good

Bee OK, Sunday, 14 October 2018 04:16 (five years ago) link

that was just a weird ass game

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Sunday, 14 October 2018 04:28 (five years ago) link

Will Price make it through three innings?

Andy K, Sunday, 14 October 2018 22:21 (five years ago) link

that's one

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 14 October 2018 23:23 (five years ago) link

Terrific game through 8 but yeah, it was weird. Two aces who had nightmare innings. The difference was at third - Bregman is just on a different level from Nunez (or Raffy, had he been playing). Until the ninth of course, but somehow it felt over before then.

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 14 October 2018 23:35 (five years ago) link

I like David Price, so I hate seeing this.

clemenza, Monday, 15 October 2018 00:13 (five years ago) link

we're edging towards last year's template: every ace gets shellacked

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 15 October 2018 00:34 (five years ago) link

Altuve with zero hits against the Red Sox so far... if he was hitting true to form, they'd be winning right now.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Monday, 15 October 2018 01:24 (five years ago) link

Maldonado is a pretty blatant Achille’s heel.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 15 October 2018 02:03 (five years ago) link

had no idea superteams could have crap catching

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 15 October 2018 02:09 (five years ago) link

I suppose the best catcher left is Grandal.

Someone knows why Stassi is not in the active roster?

Van Horn Street, Monday, 15 October 2018 02:25 (five years ago) link

TBS a much better broadcast team than the rest.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 15 October 2018 02:26 (five years ago) link

O_O

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Monday, 15 October 2018 02:55 (five years ago) link

Yet another great game!

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Monday, 15 October 2018 02:56 (five years ago) link

good game. porcello's 8th was everything i like about him.

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 October 2018 02:59 (five years ago) link

Kimbrel really is bringing the Chapman 2016 postseason shivers.

omar little, Monday, 15 October 2018 03:24 (five years ago) link

this game may go six hours

mookieproof, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 21:45 (five years ago) link

these fuckin games

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 21:47 (five years ago) link

Ron darling is about 100% more insightful than the regular suspects at NESN

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 21:47 (five years ago) link

Hit it to third.

Andy K, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 23:12 (five years ago) link

maybe we can do a shift where bogaerts moves over to back up third on every play

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 23:14 (five years ago) link

Darling seems more natural/at ease/regular season-like with Anderson than he did with...was it Joe Simpson?

Andy K, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 23:48 (five years ago) link

Who is the guy in the booth who just said there's never been a player in the history of the game who lied about whether or not he'd been hit by a pitch?

clemenza, Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:21 (five years ago) link

There's a pretty tasteless Osuna joke just waiting there for anyone who wants to make it.

clemenza, Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:23 (five years ago) link

Might as well finish the game, pal.

Andy K, Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:26 (five years ago) link

Lol yeah why pull him there

frogbs, Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:27 (five years ago) link

Darling has been below-par in past years compared to his Mets work.

and that was former Mets great Joe Smith yielding the gopher a few innings ago to Pearce.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:37 (five years ago) link

Osuna was struck regularly in the 8th, like a gong

(Noel Coward ref that wouldn't fly now)

stealing signs seems a little different from felonious hacking into a rival's computer system and being jailed for it, but do go on

Guess who isn’t surprised?

or maybe not

the dutiful and the banned (rip van wanko), Thursday, 18 October 2018 01:01 (five years ago) link

That would have been the catch of the post-season

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 18 October 2018 01:01 (five years ago) link

Good call--and I don't even care if Betts was a foot into the stands. If that's not interference, nothing is. Now they can follow up by showing that idiot the door.

clemenza, Thursday, 18 October 2018 01:05 (five years ago) link

i agree with the call, but the fan is innocent. he didn't reach into play and i think it's reasonable to put your hand in the way rather than letting the ball hit you in the stomach

mookieproof, Thursday, 18 October 2018 01:24 (five years ago) link

Good we need drama.

Lol @ VHS

Bee OK, Friday, 19 October 2018 03:40 (five years ago) link

It's hard to repeat in baseball. I did think they would but not to be

Bee OK, Friday, 19 October 2018 03:46 (five years ago) link

Gotta say I'm just glad we get to see Mookie for another series.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 19 October 2018 03:46 (five years ago) link

Very happy for Price. He's had too good a career to be treated like a running joke.

clemenza, Friday, 19 October 2018 03:49 (five years ago) link

weird to see the red sox celebrate somewhere that isn't yankee stadium

mookieproof, Friday, 19 October 2018 03:53 (five years ago) link

Not seeing Red Sox play all that much, got to say their outfield defense looked amazing in the series.

earlnash, Friday, 19 October 2018 03:56 (five years ago) link

BoSox starting to lay claim to the 21st century in the AL...

omar little, Friday, 19 October 2018 04:23 (five years ago) link

may they be swept next week

johnny crunch, Friday, 19 October 2018 12:07 (five years ago) link

If it's the Brewers, that's who I'll root for. If it's the Dodgers, I'll root for BOS.

Same. Would be fully behindbghe dodgers if not for machado. *spits*

yeah if there's one more thing Boston fans need is another title

root vs the (M)ass Evil

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2018 12:57 (five years ago) link

do fuck off, Morbs, thanks so much

WmC, Friday, 19 October 2018 13:11 (five years ago) link

Yeah, jealousy is nagl.

Just for ha-ha's I looked for tickets: $500+ for standing room only. Guess I'm not going to the World Series.

But definitely going to the parade after the Sox win!

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Friday, 19 October 2018 13:59 (five years ago) link

so weird to have a great Sox team that's actually pretty likeable

frogbs, Friday, 19 October 2018 14:03 (five years ago) link

sorry, no, RSN is a pox upon the land

haha jealousy

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2018 14:08 (five years ago) link

so weird to have a great Sox team that's actually pretty likeable

this is the "likeable Yankees" mistake of 2017 all over again

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2018 14:09 (five years ago) link

but no big deal if you don't share my feelings. Hell, some of you still like Saturday Night Live.

Who's the greatest defender who was ever asked to make a major position change for the World Series in the DH era?
