I think they played 2 new songs at the Shrine in July. One had Kevin playing an acoustic and it seemed fine but didn't make much of an impression one way or the other, but I'm not sure that means much - the sonics weren't great at the venue, at least compared to the first time I saw them at FYF Fest 5 years ago, so it was hard to get a gauge on the lower-key material; I hadn't re-listened to the band's prior work in a good 2 or 3 years and everything but a handful of songs from Loveless and mbv was basically a blur for me. The other song that I'm sure was new was a "TV Eye" style rave-up, most of it one chord repeated incessantly, and it was FUCKING AMAZING. Based on that one song alone I eagerly await their next release. I'm pretty much positive it'll emerge sometime in the next half decade. And I hope we hear the one after that before global warming claims us all, but I'm not so fucking sure - Kevin Shields was already talking follow-up EP back when mbv dropped, after all.

Was hoping to score a Loveless shirt in the Supreme drop but lucked out, unsurprisingly so as they apparently sold out in 6.7 seconds. Psyching myself up to pay well over the odds on resale.

I don't get the Supreme frenzy on anything, but even more confusing with how lazy that is. Given the hype I expected something more well-designed than just slapping a crop of the cover art slapped on a hoodie.

But I guess just slapping the SUPREME name on pre-existing items is their whole thing so, fits I guess?

Yeah, I think the back looks kinda cool but the front is weak.

Yeah I do like that font on the back, but the front looks like something anyone could mock-up on cafe press or w/e.

Yeah that's why I only went for the Loveless shirt which has a really nice all over print. It eluded me, though, for now at least.

Anyway, I'm sure Shields will have made a lot of money out of this deal. Which may even, who knows, herald some new MBV activity before the decade is out.

Can't wait for the MBV-Goes-Jungle album to finally drop in 2029. I hear Doc Scott's gonna be all over it!

I grabbed a Loveless T from MBV online a few years ago. Black shirt, ultra dark blackish purple album cover with LOVELESS printed above it. Pleasantly subtle, almost looks straight plain black depending on the light. Handsome shirt tbh.

I've been listening to the 96/24 FLACs for Loveless today. Certainly enjoying it more than I have enjoyed this album in a while. Maybe a little more dynamic and open, smoother top end and other hi-fi isms. Would probably need better headphones to notice a bigger difference.

I'm still not sure what the source of the new digital files would be. They seem to be the same with either version of the vinyl.

I have always loved MBV but streamed the ep's for sixty seconds, felt decrepit and had to shut them off??? OTOH I can listen to some 50s jazz and feel daisy fresh. I think it's geriatric millennial cooties.

I got carried away (thanks to anagram) and pre-ordered but I'll probably sell the vinyl on when it finally arrives in October. The hi-res files however are worthwhile if obviously not essential.
