I think it's time NHL culture recognizes ex-players usually make for terrible GMs.

idk -- stevie y and jim rutherford have done okay. being a good GM is hard, especially in the salary cap era, and i'm not sure ex-players are *necessarily* worse at it. i'll grant that the skills that made them good players don't correlate much, though
