Pretty much, but I’ll have “Boogie Oogie Oogie” starting in pole position, I think.

If it's under 7 minutes long it can gtfo from a 12" mix comp is my view. A fairly easy vote for West End Girls on that basis.

Going through the ones I don't know too well and Spank is an excellent proto-House heavy disco roller. Front runner so far.

Passion by The Flirts. Could go on another nine minutes and not outstay its welcome. Bobby O was so good at that.

This volume is so much better than #3. It’s a tossup between at least ten songs.

this is "he's the greatest dancer"

macropuente (map), Saturday, 13 October 2018 03:50 (five years ago) link

j/k it could be 20 of these.

macropuente (map), Saturday, 13 October 2018 03:51 (five years ago) link

but 'he's the greatest dancer' is truly irresistible and i submit would shut down a dance floor today at the right moment as much as people have heard it. it has magical powers. as much as i love the rest.

very very hard to choose!

i know ILM will disagree with me but i can't stand "boogie oogie oogie"

i sort of feel that though, it was my ex's favorite and that guy was a douchebag

it was ruined for me working in a retail job where that song played 4x a day and "more more more" played 10x

i never ever got tired of hearing "the groove line" though!!

whoops i forgot to vote. pretend there's a vote for the 17-minute "Love Can't Turn Around" here.

For the most part I don't personally see much point in repping for the biggest hit tunes. Sure they're great, but very familiar and if I have them elsewhere their presence on the compilation isn't especially interesting.

go ahead punk, get your booty on the floor tonight (Noel Emits), Sunday, 14 October 2018 09:08 (five years ago) link

tbf a good 80 percent of these tunes are well-known /well-worn crowdpleasers.
