I've only gotten through NTS 1 & 2 so far, but I'm finally starting on 3. Really gotta wait for the right afternoon to get into these.

If you moved "frane casual" and "column thirteen" to Session 3, then Session 3 would contain the highest number of tracks I cannot live without.

But Session 2 has "xflood," "gonk tuf hi," "dummy casual pt2," "violvoic," and "e0," which are all 5/5 imo.

If we ever poll the entire box, not sure I could pick between 2 and 3.

1 has "gonk steady one" and "four of seven" back to back, both of which are brilliant, but 1 has the highest number of tracks I might be tempted to skip.

I don't really get frane casual, just spins on the spot in a place that doesn't interest me. Though the fat yet hollow thrummm that develops in the background is something I could get into.

Trying to go back through the first 3 sessions to make a playlist of my favorites, but now it all seems strangely unfamiliar. So Autechre.

I like how everyone is afraid to actually make the poll

Or maybe no one wants to type out all of those ridiculous titles

one month passes...

nts sessions is still so good you guys

i don't really notice that much anymore but tonight it just sort of hit me that this is very out-there, challenging and rewarding music.

i used to feel the same about frane casual but that track has a loooot going on, confined to an extremely weird and minute diorama with all the low tones bleached out.

Fuck, this is good!

cheeseburger, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 19:24 (five years ago) link

it needs more digital reverb..

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 21:05 (five years ago) link

it's really good. reference to Netlon Sentinel from EP7? It exudes a similar cosmic darkness.. while being sort of dubstep??

... and sinitrailA/Bair from the NTS sessions, which it's a sort of remix of

Hey, thanks for the heads up! That reverb-smeared laser-whisp @ 6:42 took me back to Oversteps

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Friday, 7 December 2018 00:33 (five years ago) link

This track really pays off.. after becoming fixated on the original Perlence track, on regular old Quaristice.

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Friday, 7 December 2018 00:36 (five years ago) link

Thanks for the tip - downloading now.

grawlix (unperson), Friday, 7 December 2018 00:53 (five years ago) link

yep, dl worked for me too. Thanks for the head's up!

Paul Ponzi, Friday, 7 December 2018 01:03 (five years ago) link

now download option for me :(

Toss another shrimpl air on the bbqbbq (ledge), Friday, 7 December 2018 09:21 (five years ago) link

For me it didn’t show up for purchase, I had to sign in and it was then already in my available downloads

I am using your worlds, Friday, 7 December 2018 15:30 (five years ago) link

Dang this is a fantastic track, too. Very much an NTS leftover, but really, it should have been on the sessions. wow.

octobeard, Friday, 7 December 2018 20:23 (five years ago) link

It'd be a delightful twist of events if Autechre started using mechanical spring reverb (recording their sounds through amplifiers, etc.), instead of relying on the digital reverb-freeze effects that have been so prominent since the Quaristice days. I suppose it's ridiculous to consider such a thing. If anything, Ae seem to be moving further / farther away from hardware (old school synthesizers, Elektron boxes, etc.), towards this hyper-digital frontier

has there been a poll for Session 4 yet? that one is my favorite by far

flappy bird, Friday, 7 December 2018 21:32 (five years ago) link

Christmas number one material, this Sinistrail Sentinel :-)

StanM, Saturday, 8 December 2018 14:20 (five years ago) link

Chart rules don't allow free downloads otherwise it would be a shoo-in.

The First (Noel Emits), Saturday, 8 December 2018 14:30 (five years ago) link

who's going to start the session 4 poll then?

Toss another shrimpl air on the bbqbbq (ledge), Saturday, 8 December 2018 16:53 (five years ago) link

pendulu hv moda is sinistrail sentinel's moda if sinistrailAB air is its fada.

two months pass...

it’s not always the music that changes; sometimes it’s you, and the world around you, with the music becoming a fixed point against which you can measure your own inexorable journey through time.
