Dmac TT (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 20:51 (five years ago) link

messi shouldve scored 4 tonight and still not have done anything worthy of notice spare me the hagiographies

Dmac TT (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 20:56 (five years ago) link

Infuriating commentary from BT Sport though, admonishing us for not coming out and attacking Barcelona from the start.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 20:57 (five years ago) link

Bad performance from Liverpool, zero shots on target. Napoli well organised and Liverpool reduced to hitting long balls to Salah who still looks off the pace. I'd fancy our chances against Napoli in Anfield though, they don't look too hot up front.

while it was going on I just felt sick but looking back now it was a pretty excellent game. set up high and played aggressively against barcelona and made for a really attacking, open game. winks-wanyama midfield leaves a lot to be desired and son has been low key useless for ages, but spurs did manage to play themselves back into the game a few times and barcelona were clever and sharp under pressure. the double dummy for the last goal is just ridiculous when you watch it back.

ogmor, Thursday, 4 October 2018 08:33 (five years ago) link

Yeah Deems frothing at the mouth aside I don't think we were that bad, and we responded really well and didn't let our heads go down. Barcelona's front three is just ridiculous.

In midfield where we were just completely inequipped but we would never have set up for that if we'd had the personnel (blame the lack of signings there). Sanchez/Toby/Hugo were rabbits in the headlights mostly but I think with a proper midfield we'd have given them a better game.

Son is just knackered I think, he's been playing football almost constantly for a year without a break. Lamela looks really sharp right now and deserves a run in the team.

Matt DC, Thursday, 4 October 2018 08:52 (five years ago) link

agreed with most of that where not a vicious personal attack like

god help me would aurier have been better than trippier

Dmac TT (darraghmac), Thursday, 4 October 2018 09:02 (five years ago) link

Man Utd really carrying the flag for the Premiership in the Champions League this year, everyone else so disappointing.

Zach Same (Tom D.), Thursday, 4 October 2018 09:14 (five years ago) link

Couldn't watch last night. Seems we've lost to an 'Italy side's gonna Italy', fair enough I'spose (tho their keeper should've been sent off in the first half). We've no business in the CL but looking forward to hoping for a miracle against Spurs and be let down.

two weeks pass...

28% possession at home lol

Number None, Tuesday, 23 October 2018 19:26 (five years ago) link

I predicted a 1-1 on Unibet y bcz ManU can be poor yet stubborn and grinding out ugly results is like Mourinho's raison d'etre. Don't think it's happening though.

Ajax-Benfica is lively, box to box, still 0-0.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 23 October 2018 19:34 (five years ago) link

Don't know who broadcasts CL in UK, but do you have one of those switch programs? We have over here. You watch 90 mins of football, but it just switches to where a goal was made or a big chance was had. It's epileptic. Can't imagine anyone enjoying this type of broadcast. It's giving me palpitations.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 23 October 2018 19:36 (five years ago) link

yeah I think that's whats on BT Sport 1 now "Champions League Goals Show"

thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 23 October 2018 20:13 (five years ago) link

lukaku more effective at left back!

thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 23 October 2018 20:15 (five years ago) link

Watching a mid table English team dominate this second half against the reigning Italian champions really does show how much better the Premier League is compared to Serie A

Of course Ajax score 1-0 seconds before the match ends smdh

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 23 October 2018 20:51 (five years ago) link

I guarantee you Mourinho's basically delighted with that. The unspeakable prick

FYI Spurs fans

These new early starting times are fucking me over: I won't even be able to watch PSV vs Spurs tomorrow due to being stuck in a Very Important Meeting. #verysadlol

PSV come into this having the best league start of a season ever. Nine played, nine won. 36 goals scored, just 3 against. And this includes a 3-0 win over Ajax, tactically butchering them. Best start ever, under our new overlord Mark van Bommel, w/ one of the youngest starting 11 too: we've 4 or 5 of the biggest talents of the last 10 years in the squad rn (Lozano/Bergwijn/Rosario/Dumfries/Angelino). Only question mark for tomorrow is arguably the biggest talent, Bergwijn, who's mildly inured.
In short: we've not been in such fine form in ages. Everyone's realistic enough to expect Spurs to win this, even though Spurs have mediocre at best and awful at times this season.

My prediction: Spurs to nick it in drab fashion. But there is a slight chance we could surprise. A draw would be ok. Have a good one tomorrow.
