Preseason slop

Machine Gunk Jelly (Spottie), Sunday, 30 September 2018 22:12 (five years ago) link

yeah, lot of new people trying to figure out where they go. demar hasn't made much of an impression yet. rudy gay lookin good, loving jakob poeltl altho his shooting's been iffy, but his d, pnr action, rebounding, floor running has been great. so happy to have beli back. dejounte looks more comfortable on offense and he's got that pick 6 ability that kawhi had. he's going to have a good season as a full-time starter.

lol the starting 5 was a wreck as a unit tho. dejounte-demar-rudy-LMA-pau. pau is still a good rim protector and passer, but woof, he just looks his age out there. poeltl will have his job by season's end if they wanna keep two bigs.

no minutes for my dude lonnie in the first half (nb i paused the game here so i could run errands).

21st savagery fox (m bison), Sunday, 30 September 2018 23:21 (five years ago) link

watching the second half on delay and they brought out a unit of derrick white-patty mills-demar-larmacus-poeltl. that's the best this team has looked all game. DW is a great pick and roller and can guard multiple positions.

spurs 2 is not very good

the coyote?

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 1 October 2018 00:09 (five years ago) link

will brow win the mvp this year cant think of who else there is russ harden and kd already have their allotted one, kyrie maybe if the celtics just totally run shit

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:10 (five years ago) link

kawhi is in line too i guess

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:12 (five years ago) link

regardless theres a very good chance that this season begins a run of brow being the best basketball player

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:13 (five years ago) link

bron is prob about to show us just how hard he can loaf through a season

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:14 (five years ago) link

giannis still not quite there as far as really smoothing out the rough edges IMHO but hell prob put up just insane numbers and will be in the convo

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:16 (five years ago) link

bet they did

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:18 (five years ago) link

Feels like it's his to lose yeah. I think Giannis has a better shot than Kyrie out east. Or even Embiid if they lift his restrictions. Harden's best days are behind him, he's gonna need a couple months to play himself into shape. I could see Curry being hungry for another one but he'd have to do something approaching his 2016 run to get it. Bron def gonna coast to 25/6/6, his minutes and games played should take a dip. Gotta see Kawhi play before I can make a call on him, but if he's what he was and gets the raps to a 1 seed then he could take it.

Machine Gunk Jelly (Spottie), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:25 (five years ago) link

kyrie just a few %s from putting up 25ppg on 50/40/90 last season while playing on a fd up knee, imo theres a chance hes got a steph-like alltime little man offensive season in him, especially considering the celtics are rolling out a starting five who all shoot ~40% from three, which like if theres not a second line of defense behind kyries man im not sure how you stop him, also just familiarity with the celtics system/shedding some of those bad chucker habits which u cld def see happening last year as the season progressed

having said that brow is just better him being a true two way monster and whatnot, but if the celtics finish w the best record and the pelicans are back in the pack in the west that sort of scenario has a way of swaying the voterz

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:29 (five years ago) link

Ringer guys are all about Doncic:

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/10/1/17921946/mavs-luka-doncic

DJI, Monday, 1 October 2018 18:33 (five years ago) link

embiid cld def put up a monster season but i feel like theres a unwritten one year waiting period of being a recognized superstar before theyll consider giving you the award, also feel like the sixers cld underperform super high expectations as teams focus on exploiting their weaknesses etc a lil more, last year they kinda came out of nowhere and everyone was just all whoa whos this gigantic austrialian slithering right at me where now they know to just keep backing up lol, also they relied a lot on weird old flawed players reddick/belineli/ilyasova only two of whom are even on the team anymore

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:36 (five years ago) link

lol if the nba blogosphere still existed it wld def be lining up to kiss doncic

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:37 (five years ago) link

doncic is one of the intriguing stories this season. he was so extremely effective in the European leagues you have to believe there plenty of talent for the nba, too.

A is for (Aimless), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:41 (five years ago) link

yeah i think hell be good but lack of athleticism will prob limit his celling especially on the defensive end, its somewhat worrying that both him and smith jr will have to work to prob even be average defenders, they both look like they cld cause serious trouble on the other end tho

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:45 (five years ago) link

I think the Mavs premise is to have the guards contest outside and have DJ protect the paint against the drive. That might be doable in small chunks.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:34 (five years ago) link

doncic needs that summer of 2017 oladipo diet

Kyrie on 20, 30 years in the future: “I don’t know if you guys will see me. I’ll probably be in 800 acres in Texas in the middle of nowhere. Off the grid in a self-sustaining community, just living with no power. Like this is fun and all, but technology is just killing me, man.”

my cousins/nephews all saw it and loved it (average age is 15 probs) in a silly movie they know what they're getting type of way. I want to see it for sure.

Machine Gunk Jelly (Spottie), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 19:20 (five years ago) link

anyone have any new methods of watching games this year?? Any nu-ballstreams out there?

Machine Gunk Jelly (Spottie), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 19:20 (five years ago) link

youtube tv + nba league pass = ~$500 per season, you get a six person /family plan/ with yr youtube tv account, split w buds, beware tho u can only be part of one family at a time, basic youtube tv gives u all the national games including nbatv, league pass gives u the rest :)

lag∞n, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:22 (five years ago) link

There’s that Bleacher Report thing, too

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:23 (five years ago) link

I’ve got YTTV. Maybe I’ll spring for league pass for the first time since I’ll have the nationally covered games covered.

lag∞n, Saturday, 6 October 2018 01:28 (five years ago) link

guess it wasnt all dunks

Curious as to how @OrlandoMagic C Mohamed Bamba is so comfortable and confident on the perimeter? This story from July, detailing the work Mo did with @DrewHanlen, might shed some light on why he’s made all 4 of his 3-point shots in two preseason games. https://t.co/CE8Zy2uPMk
