Isis
Thanks to a Frank Kogan mention of them I picked the album up. Not quite what I was expecting but still very good (Chuck Eddy's description of how concerts for bands like these should be sit down art events was spot on -- but unlike Godspeed, I have a feeling I wouldn't fall asleep).

Yeah, but in San Francisco you can smoke pot in the venue.
Sure, everyone's moving back east to smoke a Newport.

The last time I was in New York I got mugged outside of the Sbarro' on Times Square at 3PM. No one helped me. I didn't lose a lot of money but my wallet with a few precious pictures, a couple of credit cards were taken from. No one helped me as I struggled with the beast who kicked me in the side after I was beaten in the face and thrown to the ground. Utterly humiliating. All this justified for a few french fries after midnight? I guess those really expensive small ass apartments with unmotivated supers makes up for all of that... along with the throngs of beggars, thieves, drug addicts, dope pushers and talentless musicians cluttering the streets day and night in front of those shops selling pommes frites to all hours and all manner of men, women and thugs.

I totally agree. Best pizza in New York is V&T, up by Columbia. Best pizza anywhere, as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, Alex, other cities do have druggies, pimps, whores, thieves, maggots and other bits and pieces of flotsom and jetsom. However, they are not the thundering heard they are in NYC nor are they considered part of the normal social landscape as they are in the big apple. What kind of person loses his shit just because they can get a corned beef sandwich made to order at three in the morning? I guess it is the same kind of person who can't see that it's the same place where there is a rape happening in broad daylight in front of a subway car full of deaf dumb and blind folks every fifteen minutes.

Oh, Orca. I did not think I could get much more excited than the imagery of Mission of Burma in close proximity to Famous Ray's, but you had to then bring up KATZ DELICATESSEN!!!!
My goodness, and all the "Send a Salami to Your Boy in the Army" imagery.
Excuse me for a few moments....

Worchester seems to have a lot of Noize stuff going on.

The BraveryThe Bravery are New York's latest coolest band and they're making their TV debut on Later. Their band name & songs are born out of the post 9/11 fear ridden NYC.
Does this band have a reputation back in NYC or they just a bunch of lucky chancers with good management?
