Though I never met the guy, I feel like I knew him just the same. It's like this whole killing has no purpose, no reason or rhyme.

Johnson sworn in on the presidential aircraft. Leaving Love Field for Washington.

I don't know if what my mom is saying is true, but apparently LBJ was reading a children's book to a young group at the Dallas Public Library when the shooting occurred. Took him 20 minutes to finally get down to Parkland Hospital.

jfk's myspace page is still up, kind of eerie and sad.

Am I the only one wondering when things are going to feel "normal" again?

Stencilled. I can tell by some of the pixels and seeing quite a few stencils in my day.

StanM, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Screw the moon, this is going to kill the Civil Rights Act

nabisco, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:15 (sixteen years ago) link

was gonna say dude

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I mean, with Johnson being promoted to the presidency this way, he's just not going to have the clout or strength with Congress to get it through

nabisco, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I would be really worried if I thought conservative america had any chance of returning to power in the next, like, 100 years

deej, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:17 (sixteen years ago) link

I guess in the context of civil rights that one doesnt make much sense

deej, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:18 (sixteen years ago) link

We're never going to make it to the moon now.

Yeah, but the way he got to the Senate still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. LOL Benjamin Smith.

Nostradamus predicted this, you know! Roof! And a ruined man! (the rest is unimportant poetry)

The ancient work will be accomplished,
And from the roof evil ruin will fall on the great man:
They will accuse an innocent, being dead, of the deed:
The guilty one is hidden in the misty copse.
(Century 6, Quatrain 37)

StanM, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:25 (sixteen years ago) link

think the coup in Iraq might have anything to do with this?

El Tomboto, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I just got that email too, stan. Also included this one:

"The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt.
An evil deed, foretold by the bearer of a petition.
According to the prediction, another falls at night time."

Who's the other guy here?

Clay, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:27 (sixteen years ago) link

these are crazy times, dude. could be any public figure.

Just in case anyone forgets: the number one songs on the US and UK charts today:

US: I’m Leaving It Up To You - Dale & Grace
UK: You'll Never Walk Alone - Gerry & The Pacemakers

StanM, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:35 (sixteen years ago) link

El Tomboto, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:37 (sixteen years ago) link

i guess dale & grace have earned their immortality, but in a sad way.

s1ocki, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:38 (sixteen years ago) link

El Tomboto, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:38 (sixteen years ago) link

If the rumors I hear about Kennedy are anywhere close to true, there is going to wind up being some kind of strip club involved in all this

nabisco, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:38 (sixteen years ago) link

"happy birthday mister president"

;_;

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I honestly find it hard to believe that such a beloved holder of the highest office in the country would possibly mortgage his career and his party's future on some kind of closed door sex scandal.

Clay, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Well I did get some good news today... I just got hired by General Dynamics to work on the TFX project. Maybe something good will finally come out of that information science degree after all.

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:51 (sixteen years ago) link

We have this American high school kid, Oliver, staying at our place as an exchange student. He's totally hysterical about this whole assassination thing, you should all the weird-ass loony theories he's coming up with. He says that when he gets back to the States he's gonna "convince them all of the truth!". I think he's lucky if he manages to convince the neighbour's dog.

Tuomas, Thursday, 14 February 2008 23:59 (sixteen years ago) link

The print setter at work just told everyone some American president got shot, and something about aboriginal kids no longer being kidnapped by the government. Most of the people here don't know what America or aborigines is. If only we had a worldwide electronic information resource.
