Though the more Tenacious D embellished their folk comedy act, the further they got from their one joke. Embellishments give the Conchords a chance to think one up.

ok i watched it and i roffld. just when its getting too cute then its funny which makes it all better. the scene where he meets the sign holding girl and he's all shes so hot omg - the part right before the song started cracked me up. the song was funny too.

This show makes my week.

I loved when they were getting mugged, Bret was wearing the safety vest Murray gave them, and Jermaine was the one who got the worst of it.

Important question: is it non-weird in NZ that his name is Jemaine, with the R omitted?

i don't know; i stayed at their place for 3 months and never saw him. but apparently he's a pretty laid-back dude. the house has a big section (by wellington standards) and they all wanted to jazz it up and have a vege garden and stuff, so he gave them a pile of cash to do whatever they wanted to the place.

I love them. The pet shop boys thing was amazing. Also, I'm a little bit in love with Bret.

i watched the texas (southxsouthwest fest) documentary that's up on youtube - it's pretty funny too, in a great deadpan-meets-genuine-shock-and-awe way - in general though, i'm more into their just being dudes and the adventures they have than i am into the songs. maybe this is wrong of me?

Only seen some of the clips. I agree with others that "Inner City Pressure" is the high point.

but the strength of this show is in the, uh, show
like not the clips but watching the whole thing. a bunch of smaller jokes within one big joke. that is within another, bigger joke.
i probably said that upthread though and am repeating myself.

my fave verses on the what's wrong with the world R&B song are the one about Monkeys giving people diseases and the one about high sneaker prices. Those cracked me up.

this show is brilliant. me and lxy watched all three last night. Inner City Pressure was tear-inducing. the phrasing was so perfect pet shop boys. I concur with rrrobyn above that you really need to watch the whole show: the genius is in the silences and looks and awkward moments. their manager kind of kills me, like a cross between Ian Fiath and David Brent.

Jemaine is really weird looking. In a good way.

The manager is my favorite for laffs; I love both the main guys & they are v.v. good looking. I am surprised no Tenacious D comparisons have been made (ie on their NPR interview): HBO show about unpopular two-man band. But xxx100k better of course.
