penalty decision was a shocker. Handball extremism is killing football

Pogba's run-up was so so great tho

h8 the run-up so much

Number None, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 19:48 (five years ago) link

Nah, Pogba ran up the nerves of the keeper there.

Agree that this handball-nazism is killing footy tho

The red card for Ronaldo was an atrocious decision. But then he cries, he cries again, he leaves the pitch crying, and it's just so satisfying.

I’ve seen Lyon squander so many 2-0 leads against far lesser teams that I’m fully expecting a 4-2 loss now that the 2nd half has begun

Jibe, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 20:04 (five years ago) link

No way. Lyon is bossing this big time.

Nice to see Renato Sanches back and looking like himself again.

Bale really is thriving with Cron gone, isn't he?

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 19 September 2018 20:17 (five years ago) link

they look nothing like the team i’m used to seeing on the weekends
almost a third now!

Jibe, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 20:18 (five years ago) link

My sole wish is Depay sealing the deal here. Pep's bunch are being drubbed here.

Silva closing in. I really hope Jibe's "we've thrown 2-0 before" won't happen now.

Sweet goal from Mariano for Real.

Jibe, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 20:53 (five years ago) link

Well done Lyon indeed.

fairly convinced that Sanchez will go down as the worst signing in our history at this point

Number None, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:46 (five years ago) link

I *almost* feel sorry for Sanchez at this point

Madrid still losing to CSKA.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:48 (five years ago) link

hate to give mourinho any relief but pogba an embarrassment tonight

Dmac TT (darraghmac), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:53 (five years ago) link

that's an utterly idiotic comment. Seriously, seriously moronic

Number None, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:56 (five years ago) link

he's literally the only player providing any forward impetus

Number None, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:56 (five years ago) link

Another nail in Mou's coffin

Leon Carrotsky (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 21:07 (five years ago) link

one match closer to that £26m

thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 21:07 (five years ago) link

"Has watching Manchester United become a bit dull?" says Gary

. (Michael B), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 21:14 (five years ago) link

nn we need a mediator or something

pogba flicked, waved his leg and fell over half of his chances at possession or passing tonight

he finished the game strongly but up to that comment he was total waste

Dmac TT (darraghmac), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:00 (five years ago) link

actual embarrassing things about tonight's game

the two lumbering giants beside Pogba (one of whom is undroppable despite being useless all season and the other who's never been a footballer)
the (undroppable) knackered carthorse of a striker
the (also undroppable) past-it converted winger at right-back
having the same player take every corner despite being utterly shit at them for this entire career
the manager's complete inability to construct a coherent game plan and inability (or unwillingness) make any changes to positively affect the game

Pogba and Shaw were the only Utd players to come out of that match with any credit. Sorry, but you're peddling comments section shite

Number None, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:08 (five years ago) link

if i am its a coincidence tbh

agreed that all yr players were p bad tho. hadnt watched utd in a while (i mean i watched the spurs match but i was focused on how bad we were until the third went in) and ok lots of individuals bumping into each other out there but....tactically v confused is the kindest youd say re mourinho

Dmac TT (darraghmac), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:11 (five years ago) link

there are some really obvious things he either doesn't see. lukaku is desperately out of form so don't play him. I don't know what the point of sanchez ever was but he shouldn't ever play again. fellaini is a very effective last 10 minutes target man but he's not a centre mid. pogba is our best player by a country mile so fucking well be nice to him.

thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:16 (five years ago) link

*either doesn't see or wilfully ignores, I meant to write

thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:17 (five years ago) link

Yep. Even discounting his form, Lukaku needs to be rested now and again, but Mourinho needs to have a big lad up front so he plays literally every minute of every game (even though his skillset doesn't conform to the players Mourinho's typically used in that role in any way). Sanchez actually played up front in pre-season and looked decent, so I have no idea why that couldn't be tried even if it was just for 15 minutes a game.

He "trusts" Matic (who looks increasingly like he's done) and Fellaini so we end up with a horrifically static midfield with no pace on or off the ball, while a 50m signing languishes on the bench and one of our more promising youngsters is banished from the squad entirely in favour of Scott fucking McTominay (who, surprise, suprise, is another lumbering beanpole)

Number None, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:27 (five years ago) link

Ultimately, as incapable of doing this job as Mourinho clearly is, the broader problem is Woowar et als inability to decide to either back him or sack him. The level of painful stasis at Utd is kind of amazing right now.
