Polaris Prize short list 2018

Partner topped my ballot, but I have since been all-in for Hubert Lenoir. That album is incredible.

I have never successfully predicted the winner.

I used to have a good nose for what would win, and called the winner almost every year 2008-2013 once the shortlist came out. But I didn’t call Tanya or Buffy or Lido or Jeremy at all, tho I’m thrilled they won. I do wonder how amazing US Girls need to be to win, sometimes

I'm guessing 2010 was not one of those years, unless you actually managed to guess Karkwa would win.

No, I thought it would be Caribou that year. I love the Karkwa album a lot but Swim is just *cough* era-defining or something

Despite my own involvement on Our Love I thought it was a letdown after Swim and was surprised (and pleased) at its positive reception
