connecting to the ps3 seems to have done something to my modem, it won't let me connect now from my PC just doesn't recognise the line anymore. any ideas?

I'm starting to get those 'gta meets life' moments now, from too much play. This morning I heard a car horn outside my house. I then had an image of me looking out the window to see somehow badly parked across the kerb trying to get my attention, possibly to go play darts or something.

Ste - did you figure out your modem problem? Have you tried unpluging the power (on the modem) and then plugging it back in?

yeah tried that a few times, i'll just ring up virgin guys next week and see if they can try restarting it from their end.

my freeze problems are isolated to connecting to multiplayer, and those problems were nonexistent last night. I'm not pitching a fit - I got to run around a virtual Manhattan killing two of my friends with an AK47 as they tried - in vain - to run me over with various vehicles. I also got very good at a set of matador moves that allowed me to move out of the way of an oncoming car pretty quickly.

I must report my favorite kill from that session was firing a rocket right in front of an oncoming cop car controlled by one of my friends and having the car explode OVER me, leaving me untouched. Awesome.

dont worry the 360 multiplayer seems borked too

I get that sometimes, seems to be just a random local problem. Have had a handful of freezes on loading a multi game, and one after the end of a game, which would suck if you had a good result as it wouldn't be saved. Also had two games where everyone loaded ok but we all ended up alone in our own personal deserted liberty city.

The only problem I've had with multi on xbox live is when you join a game that's just starting but that you missed the options choosing screens. Then I've had long waits, 3 or 4 minutes of "loading game" on an otherwise empty screen. I've had that once or twice, but I don't consider that a bug. O/w no probs

The last 10 times I went online, I was totally fine. Just something we may have to deal with.

finally got back to where i was. took 9 less game days than first time round but my stats look like balls now. my 2 hour baseball bat rampage lost to history.

what i realized by going through all those missions again, or what was confirmed rather, was that i really fucking love this game. for the most part it's the same game as before, but it's like the GTA3 series was an old girlfriend who suddenly just got HOT and has just called to ask if you want to go for an intimate chicken sandwich at Cluckin' Bell.

i'm at the first brucie race and i'm sorry but it is STUPID that if you lose the race you need to go collect the car and drive over to the race starting point again. i thought for this one they were skipping over that shit!!

Some girl dropped some litter so I picked it up and threw it at her. She started to beat me up! And wouldn't stop, so, you know, I had to kill her. Still have met any random friends despite running around as much as possible and bumping into people. "Are you my friend? Are you my friend?"

Finally unlocked Algonquin. Have been playing way more multi than single player.

i make it a tradition now to throw a donut at the Tw@t cafe owner's head whenever I leave the shop, he's stopped chasing me out now and just shouts abuse.

I've barely touched multiplay, I can't get into it at all. Tried Cops n Crooks but it just seemed stupid, the levels kept finishing before I even had chance to fire any weapons.

The races are okay though, but it's not as fun as MTA on the PC.

I've put in 60 hours so far, and still haven't finished the main game. I've progressed 51%

ledge, the random friends show up as green little pointy things on your radar. And when you're near them, the camera changes to cinematic one.

the thing w/ cops and crooks is you need the right crew to play. which is why i am planning an epic 8-man on XBLive tonight with all of my mates.

yeah cops n crooks with randoms can be fun or can be bullshit. same for races, which i'm still loving (when they go well...)

I'm a little bit of the way through Algonquin. It's weird how Algonquin is so huge, and yet there are like two places to eat on the whole island. They did a good job making the city feel realistic, but it would be nice if there were more open storefronts to play around in or interact with.

I know, ign were totally bullshittinv when they said that one in three buildings can be entered. Would be nice if you could tell which buildings you can enter instead of having to spaz up against the door to find out. Its some sub CoD4-cant-open-doors-WTF bullshit frreal

how impossible are these achievements:
- blow up 10 cars in 10 seconds
- complete 10 melee attacks in 4 minutes

also, I totally outran the cops on a 4* wanted level and it didn't give me the achievement : (((

And now word has it on Ars Technica of reports of UPS guys stealing the game out of shipments. Jack Thompson was RIGHT; this game does cause crime!;

How's this for irony? UPS said they delivered the game this past Friday. Yeah, it never arrived. I'm currently wrangling with UPS and Best Buy over this.

OK I got the melee one - it's actually 10 melee counters in 4 minutes - and the counters carry over between deaths, so it isn't so bad...

Doesn't look like it, there were none in San Andreas either (other than 2 player mode). It's a shame cos I really enjoy the killing spree's, but it sounds like the Achievment list covers the same idea (are those on 360 only btw?)

Can anyone tell me how to do the 'let someone go', I've forgotten the button combination and so I keep having to execute my victims. (ps3)

I feel like with their attempts to be constantly cynical and funny these games always tend to throw quite a lot of shit for only a bit to stick, but stuff like "one of those tiny dogs that rich people keep in their vaginas" /having two rednecks on a shopping channel get properly fucking excited about knives was making me laugh my ass off like some dumb drunk dude being constantly ridiculous and gradually wearing you down

how the fuck do I hail a cab, it felt a bit wrong trying to get the dude home from his date while completely drunk and having to just give in and steal the cab after his girl's all been like "oh no crime is scary do you know anybody who does crimes?"

when you're drunk and try and hail a cab (L1), Niko usually doesn't do the normal whistle and hand raise. Just guess that one is ready to take, and then hold Triangle until he gets in.

yeah that tv is madness, i watched it for ages too. it was similar to typical late night or crappy freeview telly channels with repeating images but different dialogue. noticed lots of clips from san andreas too.

and pretty cool that you can do flips on bikes now.

Still got a pretty high cackling with glee to playtime ratio though, mostly just from the ragdoll physics resulting from car crashes and mortally wounded people getting knocked off bridges by trains and shit

yeah, there's a lot missing from San Andreas but this one seems a LOT more fun! And SA was pretty good fun.

ragdoll physics (or whatevs it is now) is great, I was faced with a 'do i kill him' moment with a guy stood on the edge of some rocks. After fiddling with the controller trying to find the right button to let him go I accidentally pressed 'O' and pushed the poor guy down the cliff, and watched him tumbling down into the water. lol, so i had to shoot him after he swam back to shore.

and motorbike crashes make spectactular viewing.

How did you get your camera phone, ste? Was it given to you? i heard an advert for one on the radio. Also heard an ad for the ZIT music id/download service which I'll be trying once my rockstar social club thing is working...

the arcade game is pretty neat though

I was surprised to read that some of you are taking taxis rather than just jacking cars. I've so far found the cops so easy to evade that sometimes I'll just hop out of whatever car I've currently jacked if I see another one I like, and just jack it. Granted that's not when I'm on a date...
