I don't think I can listen to any of the guest-free episodes anymore, they're so wanky.

I can't really blame them, I just think they've sort of fulfilled their purpose and maximized the mileage they can get out of what they do best.

yeah i have no appetite for guest-free episodes. basically no appetite for a reading series unless it's something particularly good like douthat memoirs, seagal, or true allegiance. i guess I've grown weary of the shtick

Not necessarily, there are pretty consistent traits to what we refer to as “conspiracy theories,” and why folks who believe one are much more suceptible to others.

Corey Pein had a good bit in the Baffler a couple years back about how theorists could be described as “the world’s shittiest detectives,” as they’re aware aomething is up but are ludicrously inept at figuring out the culprit.

I’ve heard it explained elsewhere that RW cons theories are these wild, evocative thrilling stories of dark secrets and subterfuge that only the Elect Few of Really Smart People can divine, whereas left wing conspiracy theories have been explicitly written out in dusty books sitting on the shelf of your local library for the past century.
