If you're feeling particularly generous, "I am unaware of this history of racist cartoons" is a plausible response, though not a great one if you're a professional cartoonist (or anyone who hasn't been shut in a box for their entire lives). However the next statement should be "I apologise for unintentionally perpetrating this stereotype", not "therefore my cartoon is not racist".

If you need to exhaustively label your caricatures (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, BEN GARRISON), maybe you need to work at drawing recognizable likenesses before you venture into caricature.

ben garrison's caricatures are usually recognisable, though, but he's forced to obsessively label each and every element of his images because he is gripped by some kind of brain disease

If I could draw, my cartoon of that would have an angry crab labeled BRAIN DISEASE gripping the head of a figure labeled BEN GARRISON.
