Alaska and Willam are a perfect pairing, because one is a total acolyte and the other a total skeptic and they’re both equally smart about how the biz works

I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Wednesday, 5 September 2018 01:28 (five years ago) link

exactly. i think as well it’s a great match bc they both seem to have a pretty amazing work ethic in life, not only for their own drag, but performing in general & gigs of any kind so it’s not like 90% of podcasts where they think the idea & their personality is enough, and then just faff through it. they’re both actually really trying to provide good content while still being themselves & it shows.

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 5 September 2018 01:42 (five years ago) link

I'm going to this https://bushwig.com/ this weekend and am gonna see Alaska, Sasha Velour, Aja, and Dida Ritz, and maybe Thorgy? also Lady Bunny

Best quote from todays Race Chasers, was Willam on Rebecca Glasscock:

“That’s not even fashion. Dont’t call it that. Those are CLOTHES.”

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 6 September 2018 01:22 (five years ago) link

Hahah yeah that was great.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 6 September 2018 04:14 (five years ago) link

It was interesting when they pointed out how for at least the first two seasons everyone was mostly off-the-rack with their wardrobe choices but now most queens wouldn’t even walk into the ~workroom~ in anything off-the-rack let alone on stage.
(Unless you’re ChiChi DeVayne)
(and I say that from a place of love)

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 6 September 2018 04:28 (five years ago) link

My god, I think I've found the most shamelessly negligible of all showbiz awards...

Yaaas!!! Thank you @GoldDerby Awards!!! #DragRace snatched the award for Reality Competition Program and Mama @RuPaul snatched the award for Reality Host!! 🏆Come through!!! pic.twitter.com/KcgWPzUO0N

My challop: "Come through" is some weak-tea catchphrase.

Nag Reddit (Leee), Friday, 7 September 2018 19:34 (five years ago) link

went to Werq the World last night in montreal
great show (although give the ticket prices, i'd sure hope so)
Aquaria, Valentina, Violet Chachki, Eureka, Asia O'Hara, Kameron, Kim Chi, hosted by Bob the Drag Queen

to everyone's surprise (?) violet chachki stole the show
though i gotta say that one of eureka's numbers was amazing (and i hate eureka)

aquaria was great, really inhabits herself

asia did a piece about dying butterflies

sean gramophone, Saturday, 8 September 2018 17:13 (five years ago) link

Might have been said before but Aquaria is the Valentina dream realized. She really exposed what Valentina was lacking this last season.

This is where I approve of Leee’s display name kthxbye

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 8 September 2018 20:23 (five years ago) link

ha i didn’t notice that before 👍🏻

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 8 September 2018 21:15 (five years ago) link

Ta!

Nag Reddit (Leee), Sunday, 9 September 2018 01:06 (five years ago) link

Also, picking up on Sean's post just above, Violet is starting to really come into her own here a couple more years down the line. She and Katya did the latest Fashion Photo Ruview and my girlfriend and I think she pretty easily stole the show:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tj4z5-GxMM

My girlfriend also adding that in terms of look and absolutely cutting right to the chase and telling you what she thinks, she feels Violet has got some classic Boy George vibes about now.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 September 2018 02:15 (five years ago) link

otm

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 9 September 2018 03:36 (five years ago) link

Eureka vs... Lisa Landry from Sister Sister

that's a thing now

what a world

boxedjoy, Sunday, 9 September 2018 18:45 (five years ago) link

?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 September 2018 18:55 (five years ago) link

There's no fight. Eureka inserted herself into a situation when she should've just sat there and ate her rice.

Cousin Slappy, Sunday, 9 September 2018 19:30 (five years ago) link

She pretty easily stole the show

Violet has got some classic Boy George vibes about now.

Totally. She is doing amazing in these.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 12 September 2018 17:44 (five years ago) link

Geopolitical impact by one of our all-stars!

"The obstacle's a four-letter word: M-I-L-K," says WH econ advisor Larry Kudlow of trade talks with Canada. In the WH driveway with reporters, he says the US wants a trade deal with Canada but has to get through their tariffs on milk and dairy, he says as high as 300%. pic.twitter.com/1JoOW5jg8N

Morgan McMichaels: no biggie, just hurt herself punching Nazis.

The full triptych is amazing

Morgan McMichaels wearing an "I PUNCH NAZIS' shirt during a gig, then punching an actual nazi who tried attacking her and THEN having her cast stoned is today's mood. pic.twitter.com/YfAcD1E4Mu

AS4 cast is out, do even we care still about AS?

Captain Hardchord (Leee), Sunday, 11 November 2018 00:06 (five years ago) link

That's a lot of Drag Race for one year.

And a Christmas special too?

tokyo rosemary, Sunday, 11 November 2018 00:26 (five years ago) link

I am excited to see Trinity again, though!

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 11 November 2018 01:01 (five years ago) link

Absolutely

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 11 November 2018 02:12 (five years ago) link

oats will be felt

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 11 November 2018 03:51 (five years ago) link

I wish they had waited a year before AS4, the line up feels a bit lacklustre and I think part of it is simply timing

boxedjoy, Sunday, 11 November 2018 09:18 (five years ago) link

I think it's a great cast for the most part, but I agree they are milking that cow dry. Makes it feel less special to have an AS every year.

LeRooLeRoo, Monday, 12 November 2018 15:14 (five years ago) link

As much as I love them, calling back Latrice and Manila for another AS is redundant imo. Replace them and Farrah Moan with Nina Bonina, Shea, Ongina and Mariah and we've got a perfect cast (I know it's already been filmed).

LeRooLeRoo, Monday, 12 November 2018 15:22 (five years ago) link

i dunno - AS 1 was weird because of the team format, i think giving them a second shot is fine

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 12 November 2018 16:46 (five years ago) link

I mean, keep bringing back the girls of seasons 2-6 unto perpetuity afaic.

I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Monday, 12 November 2018 16:55 (five years ago) link

i agree!

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 12 November 2018 18:01 (five years ago) link

I don't think it's chance that there are only two white contestants in this round -- or that we're getting Monet and Monique back.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 12 November 2018 18:04 (five years ago) link

Season 1 is so underrated. Nina Flowers, Tammy Brown, Ongina, Bebe and Shannel are classic. (x-post)

LeRooLeRoo, Monday, 12 November 2018 18:07 (five years ago) link

An interesting All Stars would have a second chances theme for girls who were eliminated really early like Kelly Mantle or April Carrion.

As for this upcoming season, it looks to me like the first one without a predetermined winner in mind.

I Got Stopped By a Lady Cop on my Automobileee (Leee), Monday, 12 November 2018 19:32 (five years ago) link

three weeks pass...

OK, so that holiday special was kind of ... really truly awful.

I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Saturday, 8 December 2018 04:46 (five years ago) link

Yeah I heard enough advance word about it to steer clear.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 8 December 2018 05:44 (five years ago) link

Okay so anyway

If Obama released NCAA tournament predictions, does that mean I can do the same for RPDR #AllStars4? 🤔

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Ocasio2018) December 15, 2018

(The right one went home tonight, frankly.)

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 15 December 2018 05:42 (five years ago) link

That was kind of rote. Hardly anything surprising or, unfortunately, entertaining.

The Boorish Manners of a Yaleee (Leee), Sunday, 16 December 2018 02:29 (five years ago) link

Also the timing of it just before Xmas seems weird, honestly. Guess we'll see where it goes...

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 16 December 2018 02:54 (five years ago) link

Yeah it was kinda meh

Trixie summed it up best:

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 16 December 2018 03:03 (five years ago) link

This ep had the benefit of coming a week after the worst thing I've ever seen in my entire life.

It was totally fine. Tho if I'm to be totally honest I think Monique won that LSFYL.

I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Sunday, 16 December 2018 03:04 (five years ago) link

Also, seemed a little weird to re-introduce two previous all-stars and then both of them are merely safe the first week. Like, make at least one of them a serious threat?

(Which based on the talent show I kinda feel Manila actually was. Latrice, otoh, seemed saved in the editing room.)
