'88-'89 cavs that won 57 games with harper, mark price, and brad daugherty all scoring ~19 ppg and lost in the first round to the bulls is basically the perfect hall of very good team.

bball ref has him at 6.1% hof probability. feel like he's only in if you're grading him on a '60s celtics role player curve, but maybe the 2010s warriors role player curve is the same? his peak was as the best player on some mediocre but interesting sixers teams.

yeah those interesting late 80s cavs teams are classic Very Good. ppl who were going nuts over that hawks team with 4 all-stars should have been thinking about the late 80s cavs. having read bob ryan and terry pluto's 48 minutes 60 times or so back in the day i will always have time for those teams.

lowe and howard beck talked about a lot of this on the newest lowe post. i didn't realize how weird and opaque the selection for the basketball hall is! like it's not even really public who's on the honors committee that votes on hof entry.

Has anyone actually visited the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield? Friend and I are thinking of a road trip in the Spring to Mass and thinking of stopping there.

i went when my family visited the boston area when i was like 12 or 13 and i remember absolutely nothing about it so there ya go

the volleyball hall of fame is in the next town over its called the volleyhall if you were wondering

I've never been there, but I can imagine it. what could be more exciting than seeing wall-sized photos of famous players sweating, displays of old jerseys hung on dressmakers dummies, wall-sized lists of lifetime statistics, and darkened rooms playing endless clips of games played decades ago?

indeed, i would think jamal is on his way there

he last played in 19-20 though so has a couple years to go

it is actually kind of surprising he never made an all-star game. wouldn't have expected it when he was a starter but in one of those 6MOY years, when the last roster spot or 2 on the team goes to a people's choice, fun story type guy. jamal as the preeminent 6th man in the league for several years and teams was nothing if not a people's choice fun story

jalen rose never making an allstar team is the really crazy one he was the best player on a team that went to the finals

clearly a deep ops to maintain his eligibility for the hollafame

i sort of forget that the 2000 pacers made it to the finals. jalen should have gotten one of allan houston's all-star spots. honestly looking at them now those 2000 & 2001 east all-star teams were bizarre, lots of inefficient scoring wings and veteran bigs who were totally not stars.

Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki are among the six people who will make up the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2023, ESPN reported Tuesday night.

Wade and Nowitzki will be joined by international legends Paul Gasol and Tony Parker, longtime Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and six-time WNBA All-Star Becky Hammon, per the report.

just on historical precedent LMA should be a HOFer - 7 time all star, 5 time all-nba is nothing to sneeze at. what he’s really missing, aside from the eye test of being a dominant player, is the postseason success. Only made it out of the first round with Portland once and then as a spur ran into the dubs dynasty (and kawhi’s ankle meeting zaza’s foot)
