has anyone parsed the Soundcloud dump into eras/albums/curated selections of 'good stuff'? I don't even know where to begin with that. I have tracks come up on shuffle a lot and yeah there are some pretty great tracks in there...

True there is that crazy triplet-based shit, but it has the same busy, skittery effect.

How does one access the Soundcloud dump?

xxp yes I tried, got through the first 100+ tracks I think, I could maybe post my lists? I organized it by sound/feel for the most part.

It's quite possible, maybe even likely, that he's had this track sitting around for 15 years or so tbh.

would also be interested in recommendations and lists for the soundcloud dump - sleeve or anyone!

gimme 7-8 hours or so, I'll try and work something up. I have them organized into around a half dozen folders.

oh, same. even if i were on a desert island with nothing but a 150+ afx filedump, i'd probably keep thinking "ugh, i'll start sorting out through this sometime next week" until i was rescued or started talking to the volleyball

Track is excellent Aphex but wow that video is a fucking trip.

There's lots of good stuff in the dump, you really don't need to look hard..

it's weird how it has those clangy ICBYD/Ventolin type breakbeat drums, though, isn't it? i'd listen to it more but those high frequencies are kind of painful for me

I went looking for it last Friday, found 1 copy in the local hmv, filed away under aphex, none on display anywhere. (Same with orbital album, didn't see a single one)

It's very hard and breakbeat-y.... the tracks feel too long and unfocused for me to take in (and honestly each one started giving me a headache halfway thru). I'm also not hearing the melodies underneath the beats that made the RDJ Album-era tracks such a pleasure. I'm probably being a bad listener, though...

he's old-fashioned. no one's cared about skittering drill and bass'y music for a decade or more. it was old-hat even then and it certainly doesn't fit in with anything people are playing currently.

he can do so much that this seems like a weird old fixation that no one would care about. i'm sure if you're a gearhead it might seem exciting.

it's fucking excellent, maybe the best thing he's done since The Tuss eps. Unfocused, my ass. It's melodically, harmonically cohesive, with loads of varied percussion--hurried, unhurried (spacious) at times, and it breathes. Listen to track four, the "Abundance10edit" track, and tell me this is old hat. It's like "Goodbye Rute", fully fleshed out. "Mt1" (track 3) recalls elements of Drukqs, as well as the delicate melodic timbres of "Fenix Funk 5", and it kicks ass. This isn't some bullshit, Venetian Snares-like, dime-a-dozen drill 'n bass track, more-is-more, hyperactive fiddle faddle.. it's a motherfucking steak dinner.
