yeah I was pretty impressed with his guitar playing - that is a hard song to play. no indication in any of DIIV's music that he can play that well. her vocals sound good, too. but it is a heroin song, given the circumstances of the time, i get why it's dark.

the slight dip in the melody of "of" in "there must be something he's thinking of." is great.

Great cover - on record at least she's always had about twice the vocal presence and intensity of Aimee Mann, so it's no surprise that she plumbs something more from this obviously good song than fools like me ever knew was there.

On the topic of the follow-up album, can't anybody Extraordinary Machine this shit? Free Sky!

Yeah, it's a good song for her, but as a demo it sounds pretty undercooked, and doesn't add much to the original.

I am glad that she's starting to put stuff out there and communicate more. I take it as a sign that we will get a new album before too long.

Just heard this for the first time and I love it! It's the song Sky was born to cover. As much as I love the Till Tuesday version (and I really do!), I think Sky's vocals are superior Aimee's.

Also that bass is amazing! I don't have high hopes but it'd be great if they polished it a little bit and it became a proper release.

reminds me of kym brown/pj harvey or ema on their ballads/carina round/that whole entire swath of things I like, plus even more strings

(also the song lana del rey has attempted but failed to make for almost a decade)

Idk, this is a decent grunge ballad, but the last three singles LDR released are all way better.

I completely disagree with that on a few levels but this does fucking rule xp

it's totally free of irony/distancing for starters (AFAICT on first listen)
