Is Ince doomed to be one of those players doomed to drift in the limbo between championship and premiership - waiting for one more club to have a punt on his 'obvious talent'? Cameron Jerome is the prince of this merry crüe.

I've been fascinated for a long time by Cameron's ability to turn obvious mediocrity into something that looks like a decent career from the outside

I love SON.

I thought Sterling was bad in the WC until the Crotia match when I thought he was a player transformed at last. But I don't really see why a club as powerful as City would be swayed by his WC performance anyway.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 24 July 2018 09:06 (five years ago) link

xp Shane Long seems to be wearing a pair of Jerome's Nike Limbo shooting boots in the last few seasons.

Yep, Ince is in the lucrative but underwhelming Rhodes to nowhere club of high end champo players who can't cut it in the bigtime. I used to work with Cameron's cousin and he used to tell me Town's academy was racist as fuck and completely biased towards white middle class kids when this old Irish dude - Gerry Murphy was running it.

West Ham look good in that clip.

But then they are playing Preston.

I enjoyed "Rhodes to nowhere" btw

diarrhoea of a blimpy kid (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 24 July 2018 12:46 (five years ago) link

lol, Green to Chelsea seems a bit eccentric, seeing as he couldn't get a start with us last season, thank fuck!

calzino, Tuesday, 24 July 2018 20:36 (five years ago) link

Everton have resigned Kevin Richardson for £50m.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 25 July 2018 07:54 (five years ago) link

Given the pace-free, width-free, predictable mess that was Everton last season that Richarlison deal makes a lot of sense. He was excellent for Watford until Silva left, although if it doesn't work out with him then they'll be sacking off a manager and writing off a £30m+ signing at the same time.

i was reading they are having trouble moving Klaassen on, because nobody will pay his ridic 100k a week wages.

calzino, Wednesday, 25 July 2018 08:20 (five years ago) link

can i propose we start this season's thread on 1 August and start canvassing for titles now?

surely the time is right for 'man united won't win the premier league 2018/2019' since they're basically liverpool now

Liverpool will finish 2nd in the Premier League 2018/19

Quite likely to be true.

I support 'Liverpool' being in the 2018-19 thread title, in memory of Robin Carmody's historic prediction that they would win it in 2001.

I'd Rather Kecak (NickB), Wednesday, 25 July 2018 14:36 (five years ago) link

I see the Chelsea logic in signing Green is to make homegrown quotas, and when a fairly shite young keeper has just gone for £12m in the current british market - it makes sense getting an old, possibly slightly less useless freebie.

calzino, Wednesday, 25 July 2018 15:00 (five years ago) link

I approve of this.

looks like Adama Traoré's on his way to the Wolves, our first team is gonna be pretty young

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 25 July 2018 15:58 (five years ago) link

according to rumours we are interested as well, but there's no way well splurge 18m on one player, even he looks bang tidy. Perhaps this will open the door for another Cavaleiro bid from us.

calzino, Wednesday, 25 July 2018 16:02 (five years ago) link

i saw those rumours but this looks like breaking news in the last hour or so, we've apparently offered his full buy-out clause and wage demands

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 25 July 2018 16:05 (five years ago) link

it does raise more question marks over Cav i think. lot of Wolves fans will moan like fuck if he goes - as they're already doing over Barry Douglas's reported departure for Leeds - but this time last year i remember concluding with my brother that he wasn't necessarily top flight class. he's just had a great season, and i'd like him to start in the Prem with us, but it absolutely wouldn't surprise me if we sell. i think that might depend on whether we're going to bring in an orthodox number 9. cos again, a portion of the fans are obsessed with that shit but i'm looking at Jimenez or Bonatini in that false 9 role and two from Jota, Cav, Costa, Traoré running at the box/exploiting the space and i'm pretty happy with that as is right now.
