I had a friend who was a Rusted Root fan in high school. We were driving around getting high and I was like "can we listen to something else? I really don't like the lyrics." And she was offended, like, "what's so bad about seemoobadeeyah?"

it was a struggle but i went with "seemoobadeeyah"

lot to think about...in fact even the name itself is such a contradiction...Rusted Root...I mean roots are parts of plants, not made of metal, so how could a root rust?

I find it vaguely fascinating to consider the confluence of events that resulted in this band making it any further than the freshman dorm of the drummer's cousin who popped by one of their underattended shows with a tape recorder and later blew the minds of his suitemates after they heavily partook from a carton of whippets. Like, this was actually on the radio, nationwide.

I was at the trampoline park for my kid's 9th birthday and the music was a pretty much equal mix of modern country, hip-hop, and pop music of the type that I hear on the radio but have zero knowledge of except for "Send me on my Way" right in the middle of it all.

I can't believe I missed this thread. This fucking song. It was EVERYWHERE at the hippie trustifarian-filled college I went to for a couple of years. When I hear it, I'm instantly 17 yo in a sticky-floored bar buying well-drinks and dodging frat boys. This is bad not good. Still, much like Hook by Blues Traveler, it's catchy AF and reminds me of simpler, if harrowing in their own way, times.
