I also scored a timeout victory against Thermo. And yes, it's the only way I can beat him. And yes, I sent a reminder. And yes, it still counts as a VICTORY.

Ten days? Even Anthony Miccio does not wait so long to make a move.

öROXYMUZAKö (roxymuzak), Monday, 9 January 2006 20:56 (eighteen years ago) link

i bet he gets tonnes of reminders

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 03:40 (eighteen years ago) link

It was the fucking holidays! I was busy!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 05:17 (eighteen years ago) link

That's what Anthony Miccio said.

öROXYMUZAKö (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 18:56 (eighteen years ago) link

but in my case it actually was the holidays.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:02 (eighteen years ago) link

Casuistry - I'm glad you resigned, I was filled with rising panic I was going to lose that one.

the kit! (g-kit), Thursday, 19 January 2006 08:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Nah, your pawn was going to promote, and it would have been very easy for you to defeat my last-ditch attempt at salvaging my game.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 20 January 2006 00:58 (eighteen years ago) link

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 03:09 (six years ago) link

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 04:11 (six years ago) link

playing 5+3 blitz p cool

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 04:26 (six years ago) link

Is it better to learn chess by actually learning or just start playing blitz online and do it over and over until things start to make sense

direct to consumer online mattress brand (silby), Thursday, 15 February 2018 05:24 (six years ago) link

the general consensus seems to be some mixture of study play and puzzles, ive def played way more than the other two and my study consists of watching youtube videos and am not very good lol, i aspire to learn some openings some day

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:08 (six years ago) link

lichess has a cool feature where after your game is over you can review the game with the computer telling you all about the best moves that you shdve done def a good learning practice especially if you had a spot that blew up in yr face, i messed mate in two then got owned the other day i was kinda steaming tbh

brutal

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:14 (six years ago) link

it actually wldve been pretty even if they made the right moves but if they didnt and i did, man lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:15 (six years ago) link

have been moderately obsessed with chess for a couple of years now

it is obviously a colossal waste of time and mental energy but it's fun

w/e i kind of want to give it up

if N takes N there, what is the refutation of Q retakes N?

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:17 (six years ago) link

youd just have to take the d5 pawn i think

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:19 (six years ago) link

fwiw i dont think its a waste of time its fun and also good for your mental acuity

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:20 (six years ago) link

then I sac my shitty bishop on B7 and pick up your other knight a move later. or do you not take the bishop?

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:24 (six years ago) link

'a move later' I mean it's the same move so not a sac at all rly

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:32 (six years ago) link

Nxf6 Qxf6
Qxd5 Bb7

then maybe

Qxb7 Qxg5

or??

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:33 (six years ago) link

engine says yr white sq bishop to f5 then i take w my white bishop then queen takes knight bishop to e4 then trade queens and im up three pawns

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:37 (six years ago) link

after the madness

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:38 (six years ago) link

just noticed you're two sodding pains up, you push d5 stick a rook behind it and I probably resign xp

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:39 (six years ago) link

def time to "push the pawns"

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:41 (six years ago) link

well I have played Bb7 in the game so you'd have to deal with that lol (by exchanging N for B and pushing d5 obv :( )

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:42 (six years ago) link

gonna think of an insane Tal-esque tactic to disrupt your inexorable March to glory

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:45 (six years ago) link

just tried the Bb7 line with the engine and it kept the queens on the board with all else being pretty similar, which u wld think with my pawn advantage wld be preferable for you but the engine doesnt see it that way idk why

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:48 (six years ago) link

maybe it was just one of the other positions along the way had a better chance of tripping me up but didnt because i was actually the engine playing itself

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:49 (six years ago) link

Oh shit

After bishop sac on b7 then I leap in with Qxf2+!

WHAT NOW

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:57 (six years ago) link

I mean what now after Kh1 obv

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 16:59 (six years ago) link

obv Qxc2 asking to be played but Qxg3 has some kind of hard-to-describe appeal

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 17:00 (six years ago) link

if Qxc2 then Ne6 is crushing

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 17:02 (six years ago) link

(not using an engine BTW) ;)

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 17:02 (six years ago) link

if Qxg3 then your crushing Ne6 gives me a perpetual check and a draw, suckerrr

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 17:04 (six years ago) link

theres a rook sitting on f1 u lunatic

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 February 2018 17:05 (six years ago) link

oh I set up the position wrong, ban me lol

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 17:05 (six years ago) link

had the rook on e1

imago, Thursday, 15 February 2018 17:06 (six years ago) link

nice

I watch all the usual accounts - finegold and the chess network along with everyone's favourite eastern european youtubers but that looks like a nice technical one
