Max Roach's sadly short lived early 70's M'Boom album/band/project is a gem I discovered recently. Bloody awesome 16-tet of percussive players that is a mix of exotica and global influences.

I wish there were more vibraphonists about these days, is there a modern vibraphonist thread? without googling I can only think of Mike Dillon who is a working vibraphonist!
