I keep telling myself I need to go back and revisit that tape he made with Young Thug at the end of 2017, I remember liking quite a bit of it but it just got totally swallowed up by all the usual end-of-year shenanigans.

Yeah, to me it sounds as if he has finally figured out how to integrate his different personas into one coherent yet flexible style. He’s not as adventurous as he could be but this is far from autopilot and a step forward from the future/hndrxxx dichotomy.
