Imagine Dragons are best when played so fast the cd melts and subsequently causes the entire supply of their cds to melt

back in the 00s the hype machine dot com would use a pop-out music player for its many aggregated mp3s and occasionally the player would bug out and play a song 1.5x or 2x too fast, and i'd listen to that song thinking that was the real speed only to face disappointment. then i'd have to edit the song in audacity to make it good again
i remember doing this for 2 songs specifically: "dead" by MCR and "rule of three" by the lemonheads

My great annoyance with speed is the Autechre promo "splitrmx" - there is no speed marking on it, it's one track per side on a 12", but the consensus is 33rpm. However I like it far better at 45.33 (the only one online): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfmMtCwRS-g

I bought eno’s refelction on 45rpm so I could play it at 33 and have it last 45/33 times as long

also xp to myself it’s a robert turman record actually ! (they had played together at an in-store and were both selling merch. and it’s on AD’s label.)

WFMU had a Halloween mix a few years back that included a version of John Cale’s Heartbreak Hotel played at 45 rpm (or something). It is freaky and super-demented.

Aphex Twin's Flim is a glorious downtempo track when slowed to 33

Picked up Cocteau Twins' Victorialand over the weekend, and didn't realize it was 45 RPM -- at 33 RPM, you basically have a Beach House album.

Wolves in the Throne Room at 33 instead of 45 was eerie af

If you play your Abba 'The Name of the Game' 45 at 33, you will find that it sounds just like Roxy Music circa Flesh & Blood. Similarly, if you play 'Oh Yeah' from Flesh & Blood at 33, it sounds like 1977 Abba.

Can now confirm that doing the opposite to Beach House is an improvement (aside from Youtube artifacts).
