also, the son is apparently already familiar with what it looks like when trees have human sex, so it's not so much like the twist is dad saying "actually they're fucking!" as it is the dad correcting him on the kind of fucking they're doing

the trees could just be replaced with two real people doing it in the woods, and it would be the same joke

it's too bad, in a world that wasn't dumb his first 100 panels or so could just be syndicated in black in white in the cartoon section of hundreds of newspapers and they'd be by far the funniest thing in there every single day. but you're not allowed to have a syndicated cartoon unless you're completely bland and humorless or struck some sort of deal with satan back in the early 1980s.

Her psychiatrist has fixed her problems, but her husband is inevitably going to reverse all the progress they made (she is a toilet clogged with tampons, her husband is a box of tampons) - gentleworms is just a fairly silly take on the separation of soul and body, don't think there is that much to say about it.
