I've made it to Nice for What and yeah it completely towers everything else before it. Summer Games is pretty interesting though

Yeah Kanye's trend of 9 tracks albums is perfectly fine by me (except when they all suck).

"Ratchet Happy Birthday" will park itself in the culture, in part because it's Drake and also it sounds different from any other birthday jam.

The MJ feat is nice.

I like the necromantic MJ collab but I was kind of hoping those studio photos with Paul Anka were for something more interesting than him scrubbing up an old session outtake he did with a more famous person

the only one i've heard so far is one that got played on the radio on my way 2 work, he was singing aimlessly and the phrase "changing from a boy to man" or something otherwise cringe-inducing was deployed. didn't enjoy

« Sandra’s Rose » is also nice.
I already like this more than « More Life ».

The MJ song is nice. As someone not from the Canada/US I’ve never quite understood all the Drake love/hate. The rap tracks never make it over here but his r&b dancehall things like “one dance”, “hold on we’re going home” and “passionfruit” were pretty well received and I think they felt refreshing for mainstream radio.

Spotify really wants me to listen to this album. How much did he ñay? He is in every single one of today’s recommended playlists. He is even in the cover of a fucking “bachata lovers” playlist. He doesn’t even have any bachata songs (and there’s no Drake songs in there, no idea why his stupid face has hijacked that one too) wtf:

Really good this, better than Views which i liked some of just fine but this is more of a deliberate step up; arrangement-wise, the samples..
In My Feelings is clearly fantastic.

Definitely better than Views, certainly earns its double album status though I haven't listened to it enough to say whether or not it's his best.

i listened to side b again today and it sounded better to me than when it first dropped. still think this record is a big strategic misstep for him... on more life he basically apologized for the acidity of views but then he came back w/ this which is basically a double down

the rap parts of this album just seem to be made strictly to titillate gossip, which i find kinda tiresome... it's like a westworld or latter day game of thrones episode that seems to exist only to generate plot and resultant recap blog posts. there's still moments of clarity here and there where i feel like you can connect w/ him/the record but it's pretty alienating in a lot of places to me, moreso than any of his other records i think

xp phaps a challop but i could never get into him before 2015 (partly IYRTITL but mostly Hotline Bling).

Wish reviews of this had less to do with the Drake persona, and more about his shitty, droning flow + bland beats that drag/don’t pop, like they always have, only with a few extra soul samples thrown in. Hoping I go from being a hater to ahead of the curve on this in the future

this album is good but a bit of a snore, took 4 weeks to even get through it

the 2nd half picks up the momentum a bit though which is smart on his part

fucking hate that interlude though where a voice says you mad!

Eheh yeah I love this album and « 8 out of 10 » is one of my favourite tracks on it but that « you mad » part makes me want to kill!
