Pleased for Adnan. Seems to be carving a respectable career out for himself at Sociedad - and he's still only 23

I had forgotten the state of utter contentment that only an interminable game of football can inculcate. i am totally empty and the football is happening. i want this game to last 4 hours
― ogmor, Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:45 (five years ago) link
apparently they’re singing this:
Woaah, England are in RussiaWoaah, drinking all the vodkaWoaah, England’s going all the waaaay
it is not good
― I'd Rather Kecak (NickB), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:45 (five years ago) link
Vastly preferable to the national anthem though

this game is pure lack

Lol at the state of this defence
― I'd Rather Kecak (NickB), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:47 (five years ago) link
The worst one I heard this season was Motherwell away and two absolute jakies were shoehorning Hearts players names into The Jam's That's Entertainment . "Harry cochrane and Steven Naismith, that's entertainment yada yada", viciously off key and in by far the least watchable game of the season with no hint of irony.
― Minister of the Pillow (fionnland), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:48 (five years ago) link
That was a clusterfuck right in front of the goal.
― Visibly Over 25 (snoball), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:49 (five years ago) link
Lucky that at least half of this side won't be playing the next match.
― Visibly Over 25 (snoball), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:50 (five years ago) link
What is the point of having these friendlies? You don't learn anything from them.
― cajunsunday, Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:50 (five years ago) link
So England's second string are utter cack.
― Alan Alba (Tom D.), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:50 (five years ago) link
Pure waste
― I'd Rather Kecak (NickB), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:51 (five years ago) link
I don't get this - Eng were more likely to beat Japan, a side really lucky not to lose all their games!
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:54 (five years ago) link
Can't wait for Falcao to get hold of this defence man
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:55 (five years ago) link
They obviously think Colombia are no problem.
― Alan Alba (Tom D.), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:57 (five years ago) link
falcao has looked sort of useless the two games i've seen
― imago, Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:57 (five years ago) link
England did try after they went a goal down, just not v good in this situation. Should be a better game v Colombia than England v Japan would've been.
― shaqiri tip (nashwan), Thursday, 28 June 2018 19:59 (five years ago) link

As I won't be here for a week to enjoy the last 16 and two of the QFs lets do some predictions:
Fra - Arg: The tie of the round. France haven't had to play and I think that might go against them. Argies toughened up and even though France could win in their midfield (they should!) they are undercooked here.Uru - Por: Another good tie. Expect a lot of yellow cards, maybe a red. 22 shitheads in a field. Great. Uruguay to edge it. Might go pens.Bra - Mex: Brazil will do enough - but only just. Mexico will be intense, think Brazil to win in extra-time.Bel - Jpn: England are stupid. Belgium.Spa - Rus: Russia to get a goal as they bow out of the competition they are only in because they host it.Cro - Den: Apart from Japan Denmark have been the most useless team! Just nothing. Once Croatia beat them can we celebrate by banning Fred B?Swe - Swi: Really like Switzerland and the way they trolled the war criminals. Want them to beat the tall blonde people who can't fucking play.Col - Eng: Watch Colombia beat Eng and then all the hipsters adopt them. London will be insufferable.
