as was mentioned i think in the hype & anticipation thread, lots of brazilians have mixed feelings about supporting the national side in the current climate (hence the natty red shirts free from association with the brazilian football federation) and some are even supporting argentina. it's very difficult to feel bad about neymar losing

so random question but belgium and england... the winner faces one of japan, senegal, colombia first, then one of brazil-mexico next. the loser faces one of japan, senegal, colombia first... then one of sweden-switzerland next. is it possible we're gonna see them play some not-so-great football to land in 2nd?

If they've got any sense I don't think they'll play with the draw in mind, more likely to be about destiny players or giving people some game time

Brazil aren't at their best yet but even in that state they'd still rip that England back three to shreds. That situation might be preferable to failing to find a way past Sweden's massed ranks after playing 80mins a goal down.

Hot take: Belgium and England will both play to win, altho if a clear result looks likely after an hour or so (ie one team 2-0 up) I expect things might try to wind down.

In their two previous WCs, Poland have also been eliminated after just two games and then gone on to win their third.
