i....don’t think the sixers would have the three best players in that series.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 24 June 2018 19:30 (five years ago) link

(they wouldnt, but kawhi would be the best)

21st savagery fox (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2018 19:30 (five years ago) link

they might not, but it's not crazy. kawhi is an MVP-level player, and simmons and embiid are young enough and good enough that imagining them being at that level in a year or two isn't inconceivable

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 June 2018 19:49 (five years ago) link

obviously the same could be said for the celtics kids

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 June 2018 19:49 (five years ago) link

yeah i mean tbh the suggestion was so ludicrous i didnt even bother to engage

sprout god (lag∞n), Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:35 (five years ago) link

simmons is actively bad and embiid is desperately searching for any shred of maturity

sprout god (lag∞n), Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:36 (five years ago) link

like they are both so beatable, total marks at this point

sprout god (lag∞n), Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:36 (five years ago) link

that team the celtics beat them with my lord lol, like everyones all wait til philly ages a lil but they got beat by a younger teammmmmm lol

sprout god (lag∞n), Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:37 (five years ago) link

tatum is ~2 years younger than simmons! and 4 years younger than embiid

sprout god (lag∞n), Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:39 (five years ago) link

brown is younger than both of them too!

sprout god (lag∞n), Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:39 (five years ago) link

conceding the point overall, yung celtics are better than yung sixers right now. just feel like we cant overlook the role of the celts vets esp horford in leading that team. and also adding kawhi to the sixers would significantly alter the equation.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:51 (five years ago) link

yeah I mean young dudes struggling in their first playoff appearance is not something that is new. the celtics seemed impervious to this in that series but obviously someone has to win the series, can’t discount the brad effect either

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:55 (five years ago) link

the fultz question mark is still huge too

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:56 (five years ago) link

I do think as things stand now the celtics are the huge fav to make the finals, just throwing out possibilities. I think it’s silly to suggest that the possibility embiid and simmons become unstoppable forces is not in play, so hard to predict young dudes

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 June 2018 20:59 (five years ago) link

You guys are crazy. Obviously at full strength both teams would continuously tie for eternity.

Jeff, Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:10 (five years ago) link

when does basketball start ugh

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:12 (five years ago) link

this motherfucking league got the nerve to wait another 4 months, fuck

21st savagery fox (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:19 (five years ago) link

also got to wait a week before free agency really pops off

21st savagery fox (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:19 (five years ago) link

it's dumb make the NBA year round the people demand it

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:36 (five years ago) link

they gotta reinflate the basketball dude it takes time

ciderpress, Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:38 (five years ago) link

embiid is not that young I don't think he has as much upside left as ppl think, he's already pretty good tho

ciderpress, Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:40 (five years ago) link

The WNBA is supposed to fill the gap. Except it doesn't. Put it on free network TV on weekends and it could get a bit more traction. Instead we get baseball and golf with a pinch of tennis thrown in.

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:41 (five years ago) link

tennis is good i recommend it

ciderpress, Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:41 (five years ago) link

wnba is ludicrously not on easy tv

21st savagery fox (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2018 21:42 (five years ago) link

embiid is great but I really worry about him going forward, he has such a big frame, feel like weight and injury will be big problems

EZ Snappin, Monday, 25 June 2018 17:55 (five years ago) link

because it's totally possible that the sixers have the 3 best players in that series?

2017-2018

| | PER | G |
|----------------|------|----|
| Kawhi Leonard | 26.0 | 9 |
| Kyrie Irving | 25.0 | 60 |
| Joel Embiid | 22.9 | 63 |
| Ben Simmons | 20.0 | 81 |
| Gordon Hayward | 7.3 | 1 |

Allen (etaeoe), Monday, 25 June 2018 18:49 (five years ago) link

I just started working on 2018-2019 models. My PER and G models are far from finished, but only Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving are projected to have a 2018-2019 PER greater than their career average and only Gordon Hayward is projected to play more games. They are good but extremely flawed players.

Allen (etaeoe), Monday, 25 June 2018 18:52 (five years ago) link

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 25 June 2018 21:42 (five years ago) link

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 25 June 2018 21:44 (five years ago) link

ciderpress, Monday, 25 June 2018 21:50 (five years ago) link

WHAT THE FUCKIN SHIT

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Monday, 25 June 2018 22:28 (five years ago) link

sixers got an unprotected first AND a promising 1st rounder from this year outta that guy, it's highway robbery

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 25 June 2018 22:40 (five years ago) link

Some of the teams seem pretty down on next year's draft class. Not sure why, but I think Givony talked about it on the Woj podcast.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 25 June 2018 22:43 (five years ago) link

the unprotected pick is for 2021 tho

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 25 June 2018 22:46 (five years ago) link

btw im already talking myself into the idea that philly sending saric, fultz, covington, and that 2021 miami pick for kawhi is a good trade, tell me im crazy

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 25 June 2018 22:47 (five years ago) link

i approve, let's get this deal done

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 25 June 2018 22:48 (five years ago) link

xxxp
Didn't Lowe say something about GM's also being kinda down on this on too?

Really hard to parse cause the 14 draft with Embiid and co was supposed to be blockbuster and 2013 trash but you could argue that has produced a lot more high end talent than the former.

tsrobodo, Monday, 25 June 2018 22:50 (five years ago) link

2013 draft has ended up being pretty decent yeah

ciderpress, Monday, 25 June 2018 23:03 (five years ago) link

San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green has exercised his 0M contract option for the 2018-19 season and will stay with the team, league source tells ESPN.
