hmm feel fine about this guy the celtics got at 27
Pre-Draft AnalysisStrengths- Prototype physically. Explosive athlete who covers ground unbelievably and is incredibly fast off his feet. Tremendous lob target. - Great defensive potential. Blocks shots on the interior and perimeter; switches onto smaller players. No. 1 rebounder and No. 3 shot-blocker among likely draft picks on a per-minute basis. - Better passer than you might think. Has some upside as a shooter.
Improvement areas- Doesn't have a consistent means of scoring. Plays very sped-up and settles for jumpers more than you'd hope. Feel for the game is a major work in progress. - Doesn't always make the type of impact defensively he should. Relies too much on his talent and tools. Bites on fakes. Doesn't box out. Rarely keeps his blocks in bounds. - Boom-or-bust prospect. No question about his talent, but there are concerns about his motor and overall approach to the game.
Projected role: Rim-protecting, vertical-spacing center
6-10 230lb explosive athletes who cover ground unbelievably and are incredibly fast off their feet didnt used to fall to 27

So I wonder what the hawks can get for Schroeder. Is vucevic any good? Orlando needs a pg bad
― Heez, Friday, 22 June 2018 02:37 (five years ago) link
vucevic prob best in a back up role due to his bad defense, he can fill it up otherwise tho

i like that trade tho schroeder feels like a good magic lol

bunch of weird lanky guys just running around throwing up bricks
makes me wonder whether the blazers are anticipating creating the hole they filled?

re: robert williams, the fact that he shot like 40something % from the line isn't great, but they can def use a big man and in addition to being ranked in the lottery by some guys he was the last big man for like 30 picks. also likely keeps them from looking at dwight howard so all in all i love it at #27.

something i've been thinking about is how there's a really good chance that the first two players selected in this draft don't end up being in the top 5 players this draft produces.
― call all destroyer, Friday, 22 June 2018 04:09 (five years ago) link
I'm an Ayton skeptic. But then, teams with lottery picks usually have lottery picks because they have crappy front offices who make bad draft picks, give bad contracts and make bad trades.

I mean why trade future assets for a current player to try and compete with (a) Warriors (b) Rockets (c) wherever LeBron ends up.

My fellow Pistons fans are completely delusional.
The Detroit Pistons traded for Khyri Thomas, a defensive wing from Creighton, who should add to their depth on the wing.Thomas, 22, is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard with a 6-10 wingspan and scouts out as a 3-and-D prospect. He was a terror on defense in the Big East, winning two consecutive Big East defensive player of the year awards. He’s also a career 40 percent 3-point shooter with over 300 career attempts in college. The Pistons reportedly will send two future second-round picks to the Sixers, who drafted Thomas No. 38 overall. The Pistons also drafted Bruce Brown with their own pick at No. 42 overall.

Some quality insane comments:
Kyhri might actually be the perfect fit at PG with this roster.
Age a side this kid has everything you want in a prospect. He’s a top defender, he can slash and get his shot, he is an career 40% 3pt shooter and his is a competent passer. They got him in the second. Based on those skills alone he should have been a top 20 pick. Someone please explain. There are guys who can’t do half of what he can. Plus he does efficiently. Has the Pistons luck turned.
Really liking our draft.
Who knows if it will translate, but I'm seeing some Kawhi-like traits in Kyrhi- Excellent defender who can guard the whole perimeter and insane efficient offense.- Avg 15 ppg on only 10 FGA (takes only good shots from what I’ve read)- 54% FG (64% 2FG) – crazy for a 6-3 guard. - .650 TS this year (.607 over his 3 yr career) – again crazy for a guard.- Appear to have similar body types too.Very excited about this pick.
