Strong possibility this group could be decided by goal difference so I can see Belgium being relentless.

Won't need GD with 9 points

Axel Laurent Angel Lambert Witsel is, I think, an abysmal real name

nashwan, Monday, 18 June 2018 15:42 (five years ago) link

Martinez looks at Boyata and sees Gary Caldwell.

The population of Belgium is only 11m, idk if Panama having 4m is a stat that bears constant repetition.

Fuckin Lawrenson again

“They scored 43 goals in qualifying - against better opposition than Panama”

They scored eight in one game against Estonia and fifteen across two legs vs Gibraltar ffs.

No easy games in world football.

tbf Gibraltar have been unlucky to have missed out on playing in the World Cup finals.

Just thinking that. Think Rom, Belgium shd outperform Portugal

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 16:44 (five years ago) link

Not the worst underdog performance from Panama, at least they gave themselves some chances

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 16:55 (five years ago) link

that was an interesting and probably quite nice gesture from Lukaku + the Panama guy at the end

Mertens goal was a real beaut though.

England XI is all pace and width and not much centre. I suppose it's time to find out whether playing Walker in a three is inspired or idiocy, although the lack of Dier suggests Southgate doesn't think much of Tunisia. This feels like the fastest England squad in a very long time though.

Matt DC, Monday, 18 June 2018 17:20 (five years ago) link

England warmup kit is pretty great.

Matt DC, Monday, 18 June 2018 17:21 (five years ago) link

grinning uncontrollably at these sombre Big Sam skits

Windsor Davies, Monday, 18 June 2018 17:28 (five years ago) link

Kind of want Sterling to become a hattrick hero just to spite the sewer press. Kind of also want England fail miserably as per usual.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:43 (five years ago) link

There is also the possibility that Phil McNulty will be eaten alive by insects tonight, just like it was predicted in Exodus. Which is p neat tbf.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:46 (five years ago) link

I was in a proper sports bar in Tamworth half an hour ago and as it filled up with families and true believers I felt like a bit of a bit, they were sweet peeps with my own accent so I wish no harm on England the team per se. Plus this is the least hateable England squad in forever.

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:48 (five years ago) link

A bit of a git, excuse phone

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:48 (five years ago) link

Well he got Maguire right, but you'd have to be a moron not to.

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:51 (five years ago) link

This is the first England team I’ve wanted to do well since I was six years old tbh.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:51 (five years ago) link

A bit of a bit <3

Least hateable in forever is prob otm. To imagine being swept away or enthused by England though, p tough.

xxxp

I would very much like England to win this match
