And the leader of the group now is...Iran!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 15 June 2018 19:53 (five years ago) link

What a majestic, perfect game of football that was. I actually feel honoured to have watched it.

Matt DC, Friday, 15 June 2018 19:56 (five years ago) link

Cron seems to utilise some breath technique type method to improve focus before taking a free kick/pen, whatever he does it bloody well works!

calzino, Friday, 15 June 2018 19:56 (five years ago) link

He's actually shit at free kicks, on a galactic scale

Number None, Friday, 15 June 2018 19:59 (five years ago) link

Giroud opened up about his greatest childhood fear in 2016, telling Arsenal’s matchday programme: “My brothers are older than me, and they used to tease me about a kids TV character called Alf. Do you know him? Alf the Alien. My God he was so ugly and I was so scared of him. My brothers used to say: 'Be careful, Alf is going to get you tonight!' They went too far.”

Van Horn Street, Friday, 15 June 2018 20:25 (five years ago) link

indeed i accept there will be troublemakers suggesting this was a capitulation - however the scoreboard does not lie - as i have not worried to be born, i do not worry to die.

so we continue in a calm fashion with no unnecessary rabble-rousing - though in the end our hearts were on fire a 3-2 victory is worth as much on the abacus as a 1-0.

there is no need for alarm.

FernandoHierro, Friday, 15 June 2018 20:44 (five years ago) link

that needs to go on his wiki xp

mookieproof, Friday, 15 June 2018 20:47 (five years ago) link

that was a cracking match, too many lols to single out De Gea. nah, lol De Gea.

Smolov pupper (Noodle Vague), Friday, 15 June 2018 21:30 (five years ago) link

so portugal have still never lost a world cup match in which they scored first

as for the football

imago, Saturday, 16 June 2018 08:39 (five years ago) link

'ronaldo produced one of the great world cup performances', 'one-man show', blah blah

fucking nonsense from the bbc as per

imago, Saturday, 16 June 2018 08:47 (five years ago) link

it's certainly the most complete performance I've seen from him in recent seasons. Much more involved than he typically is for Madrid

Number None, Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:03 (five years ago) link

won & scored a soft penalty, won & scored a soft free-kick. basically a scoundrel

imago, Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:20 (five years ago) link

Ur right he was shit lol

A Warning to the Karius (Bananaman Begins), Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:21 (five years ago) link

it is not like he orchestrated open play particularly brilliantly - spain were much better in that regard

imago, Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:24 (five years ago) link

idk i hate him, so i'm based

imago, Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:25 (five years ago) link

no shit, Portugal played on the counter

Number None, Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:27 (five years ago) link

It was not a one man performance, for sure.

tired culché (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:45 (five years ago) link

Looking at Portugal last night we were kind of staggered and amused that Neves and Jota weren't deemed good enough for that squad, maybe Costa and Cavaleiro too. My one question mark with Ronaldo is that the team is still built around servicing him in a way that is ceasing to be healthy and at some point they'll have to bite the bullet and start to move on.

cheeky Nandez (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:47 (five years ago) link

Kinda love everybody on last night's hate list tho, was arguing with my bruv about Costa's first goal and tbh the "did he jump all over the defender" decision was 50-50 but I love the guy so I don't care

cheeky Nandez (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:49 (five years ago) link

everything about that Costa goal was brilliant

Number None, Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:50 (five years ago) link

The only way we learn anything about France today is if they fail to batter Aus imo

cheeky Nandez (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:52 (five years ago) link

xp as I said last night it was a supremely Costa-esque goal

cheeky Nandez (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 June 2018 09:53 (five years ago) link

I'm just shamelessly Mooy-watching today, and hoping for an upset.
