like everyones gonna be lining up to trade for him but the weird injury sitch has got to at least give pause

― sprout god (lag∞n), Friday, 15 June 2018 18:22 (five minutes ago) Permalink

Everything about the situation is weird. It should give the Celtics pause, but LA or Sacramento should obviously do it.

I feel like we’re simultaneously underrating him as a player and the weirdness of last season.

Allen (etaeoe), Friday, 15 June 2018 18:32 (five years ago) link

We’re also underestimating the strength of that LMA and Kawhi team.

Allen (etaeoe), Friday, 15 June 2018 18:33 (five years ago) link

they were good but not good enough

sprout god (lag∞n), Friday, 15 June 2018 18:34 (five years ago) link

Feel like the Spurs are a sharp enough organization and the players are onboard enough with everything that there must be a lot more we don’t know. So many shots were being taken at him. That doesn’t seem like the usual “Spurs way.”

wonder if the whole culture thing just kinda crumbled w/o duncan

sprout god (lag∞n), Friday, 15 June 2018 18:36 (five years ago) link

Kawhi is great but the injury is 10 on a 1-10 scale weird, and considering how many players Pop has handled over the past couple decades without drama* it’s a red flag. Not enough to not want him maybe but still...

*there was Rodman drama I guess

omar little, Friday, 15 June 2018 18:38 (five years ago) link

Also hearing the Spurs have not received this memo from Kawhi. A sign of the divide that his camp chose to take it to the social media streets first via the media... https://t.co/B9yYN6uAan

i'm losing the thread regarding who is leaking to who and why

Not sure it’s a culture thing as much as it is a Kawhi thing. Though I agree on the overall point.

omar little, Friday, 15 June 2018 19:10 (five years ago) link

the only hitch w a celtics deal is they have to include an actually good player to match salaries so are unlikely to also put one of their youngus in the deal, cld see kyrie + one of their good draft picks tho

― sprout god (lag∞n), Friday, June 15, 2018 1:52 PM (six hours ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

someone on twitter pointed out to me that they cld just sign n trade smart, obvs youd have to do it for way over his market value but if the contract was short and made the deal work i cld see it

sprout god (lag∞n), Saturday, 16 June 2018 00:07 (five years ago) link

i didnt think sign and trades still existed in the new cba

21st savagery fox (m bison), Saturday, 16 June 2018 00:10 (five years ago) link

plus marcus smart might hasten pop's death so no

21st savagery fox (m bison), Saturday, 16 June 2018 00:10 (five years ago) link

i think u cn still sign n trade but yeah i am recalling something about it being weird now or something

sprout god (lag∞n), Saturday, 16 June 2018 00:12 (five years ago) link

pop n marcus wld be a funny combo true, but i bet in the end they wld become best friends

sprout god (lag∞n), Saturday, 16 June 2018 00:13 (five years ago) link

If it was both Smart and Morris then Pop would retire

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 16 June 2018 00:32 (five years ago) link

only s tier coaches can handle multiple marcuses

ciderpress, Saturday, 16 June 2018 00:51 (five years ago) link

no one has cap space now so sign and trades will be back.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Saturday, 16 June 2018 21:32 (five years ago) link

does anyone have a channel or site they like for draft scouting vids beyond draftexpress? i feel like watching some prospect video but preferably from a decently legit source.

call all destroyer, Monday, 18 June 2018 14:45 (five years ago) link

i watched a coach nick one on marvin bagley the other day but draft xpress def the big one, ballislife is good for high school footage if u want to become a real professional online scout

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 18 June 2018 15:30 (five years ago) link

what did coach nick have to say about bagley?

Heez, Monday, 18 June 2018 15:55 (five years ago) link

he said he was great in the pnr tho duke didnt use him that way much, is a natural bucket getter but will struggle attacking facing/posting up in the pros if he doesnt improve his footwork, was kinda suspicious of his 3pt shooting even tho he shot 40% in college cause all his hits were on very wide open shots just toeing the 3pt line, said he had some defensive potential but is pob not a rim protector, is obvs a sick finisher on the break

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 18 June 2018 16:55 (five years ago) link

sounded like more of a 4-7 type prospect to me than someone who shd be in the mix for #1

sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:10 (five years ago) link

yeah it doesn't seem like he brings much to the table other than sick athleticism and some ok iso moves.

call all destroyer, Monday, 18 June 2018 17:15 (five years ago) link

Yes. Players with sick athleticism never improve their skills after age 19.

A is for (Aimless), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:48 (five years ago) link

i think hes got good basketball sense, and hes very attacky which is good, but yeah like with the draft in general its all about forecasting whether the guy will put in the work

That's fucked up. He was payed over 25 million to play in the NBA.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 19 June 2018 01:46 (five years ago) link

found some info on sign n trades

The Celtics could use restricted free agent Marcus Smart in a trade if the guard agreed to a three-year contract for around $36 million; the contract would have to be a minimum of three years based on the rules for a sign-and-trade deal. Combined with Smart's salary (which would count just $6 million for trade matching purposes because of the base-year compensation rule), Brown, Morris and Yabusele, the finances would work for Leonard. In fact, that trade works (by $11,426) even if Leonard does not waive his 15 percent trade kicker that would add $3 million to his $20 million salary for next year.

Been lots of talk (understandably) about ESPN not breaking draft pick information ahead of time during this year’s NBA Draft, but it isn't going to be the only league broadcast partner to be withholding from breaking picks. Yahoo, Turner, etc. have agreed to do the same.

Luka Doncic has moved to forefront of Atlanta's internal conversation on the third overall pick in Thursday's NBA Draft, league sources tell ESPN. Michigan State's Jaren Jackson and Duke's Marvin Bagley (if Kings pass on Bagley at No. 2) remain in contention for No. 3.

just watched some shai gilgeous-alexander video and was pleasantly surprised, he's an interesting prospect. def looks like he'll be a playable point guard earlier than sexton because he can actually pass.
