Wow, the new Zeal & Ardor is good.

It is undeniably ear-catching. I'm choosing to jettison the conceptual framework and embrace it as just a gospel-flecked rock record.

Kinda, but I read the link where he supposedly 'smartly answered' criticisms, and I'm not sure I buy it. Whether or not an artist explains a concept to my satisfaction doesn't necessarily determine if I find the concept satisfying, though.

Yeah, I'm choosing just to enjoy it as a hook-dense rock album.

The sound really works this time, where on the first I thought it sounded a bit gimmicky. I love metal for constantly figuring out new sounds, and the dodgy ideas behind it comes with the territory.

On a very different note, I get that Tom can do whatever he wants with his art, but Triptykon are a really fucking good band, and to see them reduced to a "special Celtic Frost set" because human-jukebox shows pay better is a fucking bummer.
