Sonic Youth's Experimental Jet Set in the upper right. Magnetic Fields in the middle below the record.

omar little, Wednesday, 6 June 2018 21:05 (five years ago) link

Sonic Youth is a good spot, and the only thing so far with anything like indie cred.

koogs, Wednesday, 6 June 2018 21:20 (five years ago) link

Mg Fields have a kind of indie cred (maybe more than SY!)

(I've never been that fussed about them. I think I have that 6ths record but nothing else)

(Wait, there was a CD with two albums on it, I have that too, the wayward bus / distant plastic trees)

Pavement - Crooked Rain and Slanted & Enchanted down to the left of his hips, I think

looks like an Island Records spine a bit to the left of those but can't make out what

Rightmost one on the shelf with the Impulse disks (I can't read those 2 at all, so is the Coltrane guess just an "If this guy has any Impulse they're gonna be Coltrane" thing?) looks to be Miles' Sketches Of Spain.

Re: Coltrane ID, is it that the first one looks to be Coltrane's One Down/One Up disk, so the next two are likely also him?

nickn, Wednesday, 6 June 2018 22:41 (five years ago) link

"the concert for new york city" - just to the right of the clash cd's

fact checking cuz, Wednesday, 6 June 2018 22:58 (five years ago) link

that appears to be "bon jovi's greatest hits" next to big star, partially obscured by the clash vinyl

Can anyone help Rick Brown (of 75 Dollar Bill, Fish & Roses, Peach Cobbler, Run On, V-Effect, et al):

can you help me identify this image (crappy blow-up from bad snapshot of wall of my HS bedroom, circa '72)? pic.twitter.com/u1ta5I7FIp

easy ones:

wilco "yankee hotel foxtrot"
led zeppelin "led zeppelin ii"
paul du noyer's book "we all shine on: the stories behind every john lennon song" (masquerading as a vinyl album spine)

fact checking cuz, Friday, 17 May 2019 14:57 (four years ago) link

and in her hands:

richard swift "the hex"
pink floyd "a nice pair"

pretty sure that's Axis Bold As Love to the right of the red one

Emperor Tonetta Ketchup (sleeve), Friday, 17 May 2019 15:23 (four years ago) link

There's one there that looks like it could be a battered copy of Muscle of Love, but I'll bet it isn't.

the CSN debut album is on there

Not that I need an excuse to post a picture of Diana Rigg in her sixties prime, but struggling to identify some of the albums here. Sketches of Spain and Sgt Pepper are easy enough to identify, but the four on the right are a bit more obscure. Anyone have any ideas?

Dan Worsley, Monday, 17 June 2019 17:34 (four years ago) link

The one bottom right looks like Greek and appears to say
ΤΑ Μ... Λ... ΤΡΑΓ... (probably τραγούδια)
but that doesn't help a lot because that just means "the ... ... songs"

(have searched for e.g. τα μεγάλα λαϊκά τραγούδια, the great Laïko songs, but nothing similar came up)
