I like John Oliver's show.

the Dasha video he poked fun at last week was funnier than he's ever been tbh
― Simon H., Saturday, 2 June 2018 04:35 (five years ago) link
xp Josh - it does have a rating, but it's bleeped out on the show. On YouTube they remove the bleeps
― Nhex, Saturday, 2 June 2018 04:39 (five years ago) link
So how is that her fault?
― Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 2 June 2018 12:19 (five years ago) link
this is the real problem here imo. the left/liberals have trump derangement syndrome and their comedy is shit.
― El Tomboto, Saturday, 2 June 2018 12:56 (five years ago) link
That said I don’t watch any of these shows because I read the news and work in DC so it’s mostly just old information with a lot of mugging. The entire Jon Stewart diaspora is basically a list of very funny, talented people I can’t be bothered to keep up with. That goes for Colbert too.

Just so I'm clear: Calling a woman a "cunt" is perfectly fine if you oppose her politically. Or is this exclusively a liberal privilege? pic.twitter.com/exEvKuxZLu— Dennis Perrin (@DennisThePerrin) June 1, 2018

Like it's part of this awful twitter/media condition we have now where we are addicted to getting outraged about the peripheral while avoiding addressing the core because it affords easier opportunity for owns.
― Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive)
to be fair there is not really anything most of us can do at this point to "address the core". everybody i know is fucked up and crazy and i'm disinclined to judge. if twitter outrage keeps you from killing yourself in utter despair go for it.

And she concluded her show with a wink at the very profanity that landed her in trouble: “Good night, everyone. See you next … Wednesday!”
har har

Michelle wolf took a dig at bee on her 2nd episode of the break (“feckless cunt host” was the quote). Tho she sort of ran it back by the end of the ep
― Slippage (Ross), Thursday, 7 June 2018 12:47 (five years ago) link
wolf’s show is nigh unwatchable but good for her i guess

Only watched the first episode and ... hoping it finds its stride someday.
― I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Thursday, 7 June 2018 13:32 (five years ago) link
Wolfs show also has the same lame pan to DJ/band thing as colbert any time she cracks a joke. I wish that trend would die as it makes me feel like my iq is decreasing
― Slippage (Ross), Thursday, 7 June 2018 14:15 (five years ago) link
Like the shows scripted, yer dj’s shock and awe is a performance + he looks like he just walked out of a supreme endo hotbox sesh

i admit, i kinda love Michelle Wolf. she's just winsome.

We watched the first episode, and every time it felt like we were being yelled out they made a joke about viewers probably feeling like they were being yelled at. Don't know what to think about that.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 7 June 2018 14:50 (five years ago) link
folks is it wrong to support michelle wolf and want her to succeed but at the same time refuse to watch her show because her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to you

MW's stand up is strong. The pre-recorded pieces are meh. Her voice is whatever, I only cringe sometimes because I can tell that other people hate it.
― Yerac, Thursday, 7 June 2018 15:34 (five years ago) link
I don't mind her voice, it is what it is, but there was one bit in the first episode with that other comedian where they were on a couch literally yelling at us.
I thought the Amazon Echo lunchmeat thing was hilarious.

The me too skit was funny in episode 2
One of my qualms with wolfs show is her segments like “cute animal videos and fails” or whatever, which feels like someone is YouTubing for me and that’s terrible. Thankfully she used that segment to tear down Roseanne instead

i find michelle wolf's voice to be weirdly compelling
also find it endearing/cool that apparently she used to be a collegiate track athlete and is really into ultramarathons?

I still watch this every week. I catch bits and pieces of The Daily Show, Colbert and Seth Myers (the monologues) from the night before or like on the weekend when I am cooking and although I like all of those there is way, way too much overlap in political jokes. Hasan Minhaj, John Oliver, Sam Bee and weekly formats are so much better for fresher political takes.
