Barry McGuire - Light of the World

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXTpUxiFId4

I should have known from the start that Barry couldn't sustain a funk-metal groove for an entire track, but I'm still slightly heartbroken šŸ˜”

These old threads full of broken YouTube links are kinda a bummer

true

for the record, the song in the OP was 'My Heart Will Go On' (which is melodic af from start to finish, so I have no idea what Geir was complaining about)

Bon Jovi's "Living On a Prayer" used to always trick me into thinking it was some synth-pop hit I didn't already know.

Actually, I'm listening to snatches of Sleeper's top spotify songs and every single one starts like it's going to be awesome, then goes straight into chirpy Britpop

Surprised I've never used this thread to whinge about Van Halen's 'Jump'. I love that synth intro, absolutely hate the song.

"Sweet Jane" by The Velvet Underground

"Sympathy for the Devil." I think it's a good song overall, it just has dumb lyrics. But the intro with all the screaming is so cool that I'm always a bit let down when Jagger starts singing and it's like, "Oh, right, Mick read a book."
