Brand New: emo beacon or lesser light?

If anyone ever wants to write a piece about #MeToo and artist fandom, which someone probably should, they'd do well to start with the wildly divergent (and still-unraveling) reactions on the Brand New subreddit.

can't bring myself to read that tbh. used to be a part of the brand new online fan community as a teenager and those people are nuts

sort of hate myself for loving this record as much as I do. but maybe that's what brand new's music is about, and why it speaks to me so much -- so much of it deals in guilt, self-loathing...it feels very earned.
