Dymphna and Eye Contact are two of my favorite albums of the 2000s, easily. I'm always happily surprised when I go back to them, they're so good. (Also the two GGD shows I've seen are two of my favorite shows of the 2000s.)

Jealous of the shows moth. I forgot to go to the eye contact show :-/

Sooo good. They closed out one night of Big Ears that year, and they played so long they actually got shut down because it was 3 a.m. Everybody was still dancing and no one wanted to go home.

They were amazing on the Eye Contact tour. The news stuff is lovely but here's hoping the new album has the sort of rollercoaster moments that both that and Dymphna had.

Listened to SD this week in anticipation (first time in maybe seven or eight years?) on way better speakers and headphones than I had back when I first heard it and I don't think I really appreciated how much space there is in the sound on Vaccum. It's like rattling around in a tank of noise.

Same here bud. Just rolled it with some new Sony headphones and damn it sounded good. I think sd and eye contact are their masterpieces. I’d be happy with just a good record with no frills at this juncture

For a band that's all about finding exciting new frills that seems like the wrong approach to me.

What I mean is they’ve made enough dope records to just put a solid record. Anyway love the two new singles and imagine they’ll as per usual drop Bombs

haha i can't believe there were people this into their shit show they called a live show. They were the worst band I've ever seen live other than the chromatics, and I saw them at their 2009 peak. Awful hot mess.

You could replace Lizzi with a 10 year old who had no drumming experience on those tom drums and they could keep the same rhythm she has. Maybe the bad-ness of it is the appeal but it's lost on me.

The one time I saw them live was at a festival and their sound problems were so bad that they managed to finish I think 3 songs in a total of an hour.

Haven’t seen them live but I love their records.

The first time I saw Lizzi play was with her drum-duo side project, and I liked her energy but musically it was a lot of undistinguished thumping. So I was surprised the first time I saw GGD how well her drumming worked in the confines a more structured band. Like I said upthread, both times I saw them they were totally in sync and on point, their sets were seamless.

Yeah saw em 2010 and they slayed, it’s almost as if there are variances of quality across performances depending on context

Don’t sleep on the beedeegee album which is a continuation of the strange pop distortions of saint dymphna. Features the gang gang singer as well on “rain man”
